Warmup game?

I had some difficulties while playing just now:
-while in a city screen, I was not able to reassign citizens or specialists. Research buttons and build buttons were also unresponsive.
-upon exiting the city screen, research buttons still unresponsive.
-I was, however, able to move units.

I exited to main menu, quit the game, restarted the compy, restart game, connect. Same exact problems, but before I have a chance to exit to main menu, I get an error message:
Warning! We have lost our connection to the Pitboss Server!

the game auto-exits to main menu, from which I close the game, restart compy a second time.

I think I should post here, so I open Chrome (browser).... no internet. Other computers in the building have internet. I close Chrome, restart after getting some coffee, and internet comes up fine. So I think I should check in on the Pitboss. Yep, everything works OK, and I'm able to complete my turn just fine.

So I have no idea if my problems (likely to be specific to my machine or my machine's connection to internet) resulted in lingering Pitboss Server problems, but I thought I should post here to inform everyone :)

sometimes the connection is not good enough, I get the message after entering the game. I've thought til now the oversea-cable is to long.
My solution if you get no response wait a little, then it's better or disconnect.
 
That's interesting. It didn't seem to affect this end.

Here's a tip: When you restart BTS you might find the settings are all reverted to default by the abrupt disconnect. Happens to me once in a while and then the next time I start it, it comes up full screen instead of windowed. It creates a .ini.bak file which can be used to restore the old settings.
 
Robinson build the Pyras and wait for Friday. perhaps I should build better the Lighthouse, in CII or III you could go over Oceans.
 
Since I don't have BtS at home, I didn't play this weekend. On Friday I had neglected to set goto orders for two units that were moving in to a city to defend it against a barbarian. But they didn't move into the city... the city was razed. :cry:

Don't forget to set gotos if you're going to be gone for a day or two! :old:

Did you build the GLH?

Yes, I did. I didn't expected that I get this wonder at this 'late' point of the game. But now I'm very happy with it. Come on baby light my fire... ;)

By the way the GLH works very well togesther with the expansive trait of Pacal cause of the cheap harbours. Maybe we could think about it at our demogame.
 
With your overseas-TR (you have them by now, right;)) it should be a huge boost (... already to be seen in the demo)

I also think it would be a good choice in the demo-game, but then we certainly would have to go for sailing now.
(Build lighthouse asap and build it with received masonry right after the first tech-trades... We should definately be in the lead against Cav and Kaz. Don't expect SAn to go for it, but maybe Sat, that expand really slow...)
 
At the moment I unfortunately only have one oversea-traderoute. The GNP-effect of the GLH are roundabout 14 points (culture + commerce).
