(The whole post is in detail)

Ok I was playing Os-Gabella when I started getting CtDs every 4-8 turns so I went on investigating this problem (well Meshaber built on turn 256 on prince cleares a continent with 3 riders on fast) I had 2 theroies

1.When a unit of mine is killed--->CtD.Why I thought that:a pyre Lord (fort commander repl.) got killed and another unit.It isn't that one TESTED IT.

2.An improvement was destroyed on turn 301/2 via an event and again a CtD.Well it appears that this one is the cause because i tried to raze it with a spectre a turn before the event (by using autosave) and again a CtD,so I went back not one but 5 turns but on turn 296 I hadn't this problem.

Well and the pyre lords weren't causing the Crashes but the fact that for some reason the chariots that atacked him razed the castle and caused the CtD.

To sum up why are improvements which are razed Causing CtD

i get random ctds as well, your best defence is to change autosave rate to once each turn, instead of every 15 or whatever it does

go to the _Civ4Config inside your beyond the sword folder, and change

; Specify the number of turns between autoSaves. 0 means no autosave.
AutoSaveInterval = 1

now, open your save folder in the beyond the sword folder /single/auto

leave that open, from now on, whenever you get a CTD, just find the highest number and open that save, bam, your back in the game

Well thanks but I knew of that A LONG time ago and I don't proceed to the next turn as usual which means that I'll be playing the same turn over and over and over and over... Instead the next one because this crash is between the turns not at the end of the first (I hope that makes sense)

i see what your saying, i get those sometimes, your best bet is to post your save

Ok I'l do that

EDIT:Unfortunately I lost the auto and the usual save so I can't post it.

yeah, i'm getting those crashes as well. They seem to always be late in the game. you know, when things get really slow and the globe spins for a minute or two between turns.

But! this is an awesome mod, frustrating ctd aside, it's pretty damn cool.

And i was wondering, am I doing it wrong? the installation that is. I've read conflicting installation instructions. Some recommend D/Ling only the RifE mod while others recommend a precise order of installing various mods (FfH2, (+patches) FF (+patches), FF+(+patches), RifE). which is it?

I've been playing as the Scions lately, and I've also been cheating a bunch with the world editer. (mostly changing terrains). I'm basically trying to see all the things the scions can do... it's not really a "game" that I'm running. it's happened twice now though. after maybe 8 hours of play is when things get slow and breaky.
I can post the saves if it's recommended. like the above poster, the crash will occur at the same turn each time, even if i reload it, it'll just crash again...

currently me and my friend has had more trouble than ever before with crashes, the are not the kind we cannot reload from, but they are very frequent, we cant go 5 turns without at least one of us crashing, between the crashes, the OOS issues, and memory allocations (even on standard maps O.o) it kills the enjoyment of the game pretty quickly.

i like the mod, its really interesting, the crashes just get hard to deal with, next time me and my friend are going to try even smaller than standard maps to see if we still get crashes

not sure how much a smaller map would help. I've been using tiny maps in most cases in an effort to avoid the same. also been using "Quick" for the playspeed.

Seeing a good deal on a 1 gb video card I purchased it (with a new power supply) thinking the video horsepower upgrade might aid my RiFE games, especially by eliminating game slowdowns, CTDs, and allowing me to play larger maps with slower game speeds.

I previously had a 256 mb video card and had to dial down to Normal speed games on a Standard sized map. Even at this setting I was getting CTDs in mid to late game situations depending on how full the map was.

Well, I drew the Elohim on a Large, Normal speed map. Everything went fine for about 400 turns, but then things really slowed down. I was have 2-3 minutes between turns. Then, the CTDs started coming.

The map was about 75% full with 6 other AI civs (so much for the animals wiping out civs :)). I am fairly close to an Altar Victory (easy with the Elohim), however I am going to have to abandon this game because of the CTDs. I can live with the time between turns, but the CTDs are coming every few turns.

So, at least I proved to myself that it is not the video card that is a problem. Back down to Standard sized maps....

ok, so i started up a new game with the d'tesh. I found it odd that it crashed very early. somewhere before turn 100. I decided to adjust the screen resolution, I dropped it back a few notches, it had been on the highest. The game seemed to like that change and it's a bit more stable now. who knew?

There are CTDs for me as well... but always on the first turn. Neither Civs nor Leaders are the cause, as I've tried out at least 5 different civs including Austrin, Luchuirp, D'tesh, Bannor, and the Balseraphs. Options were always Continents, Huge, Epic, Broader Alignments, No Savages or Demons, Flavor Start, and Living World. However, the one time I was able to get past the CTD by playing as the Sheaim, every single tile started turning into Boreal, and then Tundra. Very odd bugs, and game-breaking as well.

Has anyone proficient tried looking at the crashes with a debugger? These sound very much like noob mistakes at memory management on C++ side.
