Welcome New Members

Hello everyone,

Although I have frequented the Civ Fanatic site for some time, it never occured to me to join the forum. Well, I have corrected that oversight this morning. I have always been a Civilization fanatic going all the way back to Civ 1 running on my Atari ST. When I upgraded to Windows system, my first software purchase was Civ II. I have since moved onto Civ III and the two expansion packs. Civ IV and the Warlords expansion are going on my Christmas list. Oh, I also have Alpha Centauri/Alien Crossfire.

Alas, even though I play Civilization a lot I never have mastered it and spend a lot of my time playing in the lower levels. This has led me to believe I am good enough to play the game but realize that as long as I am enjoying the game, it does not matter what level I am playing at. I am thankful and feel that is one of the attractions to the game is the varying levels of difficulty.

I look forward to learning and hopefully helping out as well from everyone in this forum. I realize I have a lot to learn and will spend some time reading and searching through this forum before posting any questions.

Hello, my name is Ryun, I've been playing Civilization games for about 8 years now.

Back in 8th grade, I was in a new middle school building, and instead of a woodwork shop class, they had a technology class, where you learned about electronics and other "modern" technologies. I got to play with legos and such...

Anyway, one of the stations we could get to work on for the term was Civ 2. A guy I knew got it, and was doing so poorly, somehow, even on chieftain he couldn't get gunpowder before 1850 AD or so. So the teacher let him cheat. That was pretty funny. I played it a little bit and got hooked.

I got Civ 2 shortly thereafter, and bought Civ 3, Conquests, Civ 4, and Warlords. I love spiritual, financial, and creative civs in Civ 4, and am currently playing through ViSa [Warlords] as Hiram, and having a blast.

My fiance also plays a little bit, she likes spiritual and philosophical civs like Ghandi, Teuta (from ViSa), and Saladin on vanilla Civ 4. We really like the fact that Civ 4 has hotseat mode, since we only have one computer and have been wanting to play together.

I've been browsing CivFanatics for a while, but just recently joined the forums. Probably won't have much to say but hope to pick up some game tips and such while I'm here.

About my play style: I've never gone higher than noble on the difficulty settings, just because I'm a wuss like that. I'm also something of a perfectionist, and don't tend to go to war much, since I'm usually too busy building improvements and buildings for my cities to build aggressive units. I know that weakens my play, but oh well.

Hey, there! Bought Civ4 this summer, and I'm addicted! *Bleepin'* great game! So far, I haven't gone past Chieftain level, but I'm slowly working my way up. Looking forward to getting Warlords! Happy pillaging!

I've had Civ 3 since, well let me see, when did I join?....hmmm, been lurking too long it seems. Just bought Civ4, (was waiting for a better computer). Inbetween, I've been pretty active with SimCity4, and the Simtropolis fansite. I'm known as 'north country dude' there.

btw, no avatars?...hello?...does anyone read this stuff here?

Been playing since the Civ II days. Tend to play in stretches where I play *WAY* too much  , then I step aside for a while. I am in the midst of one of these periods where I am on the game too often -- just started my first game at Prince level, with Rome. Like to switch between leaders and try to win using various tactics.

Been lurking for about a week -- thought it was best to say hello. Hello.

I have a big problem and im wondering if there is a simple solution. My games will sometimes not make it past the first move, all cities are destroyed as soon as they are built. Why??? Thanks if anyone knows.

Hello everyone, I've been playing civ 4 on and off now since it came out last year but I've finally made my way over here to civfanatics. The information is great here - I used to be stuck on prince in vanilla but now I'm up to monarch! Thanks folks!

Hello, long time lurker here, decided that is time to register finally. Site is absolutely great, been reading lot of gaming forums and must say that i haven't found one which is able to compete with Civfanatics forums. Daily read for me. Thanks for great information that i have found here while playing Civ.

Hey folks, I've been here before, and finally signed up because I bought Warlords, and updated right away to 2.08 and am having problems with it. I hope I don't need new hardware...

btw, no avatars?...hello?...does anyone read this stuff here?

Of course we read this stuff. ;)

And of course you may have an avatar. It's just that, according to the Forum Rules, you must be registered for at least 30 days, AND have made at least 30 posts, to get a custom avatar. Until then, we have a lovely selection of hundreds of civ-related avatars you may choose from. ;) Just go to your User CP (link near the top left of the page), and scroll down to the Edit Avatar selection in the left column. Choose what youwould like, there. :D

Hello!
My name's Aleksei. I'm from Ukraine.
I love civ3 and at the moment is trying to create some interesting fantasy mod for it.
But I'm a newb in that stuff( ), so any help will be useful.

This site is just great!!!:goodjob:

Hi, new to Civ Fanatics but not to Sid Meier and Civ. Just got Civ IV and Warlords this week. I'd played a bit of Civ II and Civ III, but my favorite game, bar none, has been Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Love that game. But I thought I'd best get into the modern era...

Hi All,

This site is awesome! I've been playing CIV since version 1 (back
in the mid 80's I think) and all the other versions on and off over
the years and CIV4 Warlords is the best ever!

It's keeping me and my brother up nights so that we start missing
work the next day just to finish the game (we play multiplayer using
Linksys wireless router at home) :-)

Great job on the game and this site is also great for getting tips
from the other Civ Fanatics!!

Keep up the great work on the forum!

Hello everybody !:D
I'm very happy to be in this great communauty !:crazyeye:
but i don't speak english very well...:mischief:
then i try to understanding the most part of your discussions.
For now, i'm like a tourist: happy, curious, and frequently lost !
but for now, i just need to say : civ fanatics center is a great place !:goodjob:

Ahoy there everyone!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm a Civ3 and Civ4 player at the low-mid skill level range (probably because I lack the patience for seriously micro-managing my workers...).

My usual way to play is the epic game with all settings randomised (except for world size), so that I have to explore the world and I can't enter the game with a pre-conceived strategy.

Scenario-wise, it's hard to go past Sword of the Shogun.....

I'm looking forward to getting involved with this great community.

Hey guys, I have been a member now for a long time, and finally posted! I love this forum, you have a lot of talented modders and information on Civilization.

Hope to be an active member here!

EDIT: Damn, I didn't realise I had been a member for 1+ years!!

Hi Everyone,

Just came across the Civ Fanatics website and forum for the first time today would you believe. I thought seeing as I love my Civ 4 so much, how could I not join and maybe get a few pointers here or there. My husband and I fight over who is going to play next. Maybe we need another computer and another copy of Civ 4!
