Hello, my name is Ryun, I've been playing Civilization games for about 8 years now.
Back in 8th grade, I was in a new middle school building, and instead of a woodwork shop class, they had a technology class, where you learned about electronics and other "modern" technologies. I got to play with legos and such...
Anyway, one of the stations we could get to work on for the term was Civ 2. A guy I knew got it, and was doing so poorly, somehow, even on chieftain he couldn't get gunpowder before 1850 AD or so. So the teacher let him cheat. That was pretty funny. I played it a little bit and got hooked.
I got Civ 2 shortly thereafter, and bought Civ 3, Conquests, Civ 4, and Warlords. I love spiritual, financial, and creative civs in Civ 4, and am currently playing through ViSa [Warlords] as Hiram, and having a blast.
My fiance also plays a little bit, she likes spiritual and philosophical civs like Ghandi, Teuta (from ViSa), and Saladin on vanilla Civ 4. We really like the fact that Civ 4 has hotseat mode, since we only have one computer and have been wanting to play together.
I've been browsing CivFanatics for a while, but just recently joined the forums. Probably won't have much to say but hope to pick up some game tips and such while I'm here.
About my play style: I've never gone higher than noble on the difficulty settings, just because I'm a wuss like that. I'm also something of a perfectionist, and don't tend to go to war much, since I'm usually too busy building improvements and buildings for my cities to build aggressive units. I know that weakens my play, but oh well.
