Hey, hi, hello, how ya doin', hope you're enjoyin' the wine, took me eighty turns to get to monarchy, no joke.
Okay, maybe not eighty turns...
Anyway, yeah, I started playing Civilization with the Civilization II that was ported to the PSX, and constantly found myself stuck on lower difficulty levels. Note that, when I still had my PSX and Civ II, I was dealing with the mentality of a precocious ten-year-old who was
way too into strategy games for his age. But, it's probably best to start early, have a good foundation, and end up doing well later in your life. To me, strategy games can have a lot of overlaps with real life, even if that seems like a farcical statement.
Fast forward a couple of years, I start playing Civ III, and it grips me for awhile, but it doesn't have the depth I need.
Now, just recently, I've picked up that crazy three-in-one box of Civilization IV and Colonization (and in PCDVD single disc, sweet!). So, since I've gotten back into Civ-mode, I've spent some time reading up on the game and strategies and all that jazz. Turns out, with all the time I've been spending playing my games, I have a whole lot to learn when it comes to playing the game, and playing it right. As a student of history, it's fun to be able to create anachronisms (for instance, communist America conquering the Zulu in 1650 A.D.) and yet have a leaning towards historical tendency with each culture, (yes, I will vassalize the world as Rome.)
Anyway, this is already too much. See you elsewhere in this crazy network of forums.
