Welcome New Members

Hello everyone(even if only new members go to this thread) I've played civ from 2 through 4 and my fave is 4

on a side note i'm using the wii, so if you see some typos sorry

Hi guys, I'm a regular visitor to this site and now i registered because i got a few questions (no worries i'll post them in the approriate sections ;))

i think i've played all the civilization games except for revolution and i love all of em. colonization a bit less because i like to built massive empires.

anyways... this site is superbe in every way :) keep up the good work :d

Hi! registered on here a while back, but haven't needed to post anything, so now I can get the no posts message off my screen :P
Only played Civ IV and expansions, really love it, bit of an average player really. Would love to play it really well! Hopefully I'll find some stuff about here...

I'm just in the same case as in the first post, save that you have to add 2 to the Civilization version number. I just discovered Civ IV last May during a Steam promotion.
So far, I've played a few sessions with it: an utterly failed Augustus César, a successful space race with Catherine the Great and an unsuccessful one with the same civ on a different setting in a slightly higher difficulty level (Regent if I remember well). Now, I'll be trying a Roman Empire anew on a Terra map to increase my aggressor skills since it's what hindered me most during my last play.

And Hell, I love this game now. I'm eagerly waiting for the fifth episode, it seems it will be quite a leap ahead...

Anyway, I found this forum a bit more easy to navigate and to find useful information, tips, tricks and strategies than at Apolyton, but maybe I didn't look hard enough.

hey was sup. been with Civ IV for a year now an i have one thing to say......its AWESOME. but could some one please put more senerios an mods for vanilla.

Hello, I am a longtime Civoholic (I think 9 or 10 years). I'm 19 years old now and I'll be going to University this year.

I am REALLY passionate about music; I've been playing guitar for about two and a half years now and I also compose video game music. I'll be starting my new real-life band project really soon!

I've actually tried doing a Let's Play of Civilization which you can find on my Youtube Page. I'll warn you that it's not that brilliant and it's been scrapped. I'll be trying again soon though, after I upgrade my PC.

My relationship with Civ has always been a sort of masochistic one, as I'm not that good at it and I've won just about 5-10% of all the games played during my long Civ-playing "tenure". Even so, I keep coming back for more, and I always have fun.

Anyhoo, I'm very glad to join the forums and I'm sure I'll learn A LOT of things from you guys and I would just like to say thank you to the site and all its contributors for providing such in-depth details and keeping us updated about all the latest developments related to Civ in general and Civ 5 in particular. I hope one day I can contribute with something too... Maybe compose some music for a mod! :D

PS: My nick should be Shivermesideways, but it didn't fit. I've had similar experiences with Last.FM as well. :P

Welcome all! :)

Bought Civ IV complete from the recent Steam sale. It was only $10 and I've never played a Civ game before, so I thought I'd try it. Information and choice overload, and don't know how to start.

Didn't realize I had created an account here so early on, I got the make your first post notification, and followed the link. I'm really surprised about my join date.

Hi everyone. I am known as obsessisim in all the Sims sites and Sporum, ObiDesigns on IMVU.com and Obie on the RCT3 forums. I was in Walmart the other day browsing for something totally new and spotted the Civ 1V special edition which includes all the eps. I had heard of the game and knew it was well received so decided to give it a try.
Today I was late for work, so that should tell you how much I like it.:goodjob:

Hi everyone!
Happy to be here, this site is awesome! I've been playing Civ for a lonnnnng time, but I have to say that for me civ III is the best!
I would like to know if there is a specific place here for unit orders...
Thanks for your answers :)

Vive la Civ!

AFAIK, you can send them a PM after you have made 5 posts in 5 days

What are the advantages of trading resources? For example if you trade 1 iron for 1 spice how does that affect you or what do you get out of it?

You get whatever bonuses associated with that resource. iron gives a production bonus IIRC and allows you to build all melee units. Spice gives a happiness bonus and you'll get make more gold.

Hi everyone, I am new here, and a beginner of civic iv as well. That's why I am trying to seek for help here. Hope anyone could answer my questions.
Well, 1st question is what exactly is the number on the cities on the map?
I've been improving me cities, and the numbers have gone up to 18 for some of the cities. But then most of the cities drop to 1 all of a sudden, and it takes forever to build improvements. Also the culture gauge is like start all over again. And the citizens got all angry. I can't access all the tiles in the cities. I wonder what is the cause of that. Please tell me if anyone knows what I 'm talking about. Thanks.

The number your refferring to would be the number representing the level of the cities population. Its impossible for it to drop to one, "all of a sudden", unless you were nuked or something. The population declines from starvation and disease, but this takes a long time. To the best of my knowledge, culture can't go down unless the city is captured or nuked. The citizens will be mad when the city is crowded, they want to join another civ, or if you've whipped or drafted too much. Also, if a citizen is angry, then he will not work, which is why you were no longer working as many tiles in the BFC.

Hi everyone I have visited this site before to improve my civ4 skills but never made an account until I heard about civ5 and got really excited, and made an account.
