What Are You Reading, Again?

Wow! I have not read a real book for 6 months! What I am reading now are a bunch of C++ books.

Just got done with Wuthering Heights, and now working on Crime and Punishment by Fyodr Dostoevsky (hope I spelled that right)

While away travelling I re-read Pratchett's The Light Fantastic, The Colour of Magic and Guards! Guards!

I also read The Truth and Moving Pictures in English.

Right now I am reading a book about the tank battle of Kursk by two Swedish authors. (ISBN 91-7001-091-9)

The autobiograhpy of G.K. Chesterton, as well as his biography. Then I have a small book of poems by Tennyson, a beautiful book of poems from 1881 by Tennyson, and a collection of Robert Browning.

Next I'm going to find Alexander Pope and T.S. Eliot.

Finished Kursk, now I'm reading yet another Pratchett book in English, Monstrous Regiment.

Came across a trilogy that I don't have the author's name in front of me now, but it's called Hominid, about our universe intersecting with another universe where instead of Homo Sapeins becoming the dominant intelligence, it was the Neanderthals. Haven't started it yet, but it looks interesting.

Also reading a semi-sequal to Archfrom: Beauty called Flash by L.E. Modesitt Jr. I call it a semi-sequal because it's in the same universe as Archform.

I still like that book, even though it's outdated. I was rather disappointed that he never went back to that universe and wrote about what happened.

you won't be disappointed!! I love that book and read it every few months. probably one of my favourite Clancy books although I suggest you red Sum of All Fears, which is brilliant and quite chilling....

I read and reread Red Storm Rising quite a few times myself - great reading!

I'd recommend you read all Clancy's 'Ryan' books, starting with 'Hunt for Red October' (OK, Ryan doesn't star yet in that one, but it's still referenced often later); though the last couple in the series aren't up to the earlier ones IMO.

I'm not so keen on the collaborations he writes with others (OP-Center and so on), these just seem like a rip-off to me...

If you want to read them in chronological order, start with Without Remorse. Then go on to Red Rabbit, Patriot Games, and then Hunt for Red October, and proceed from there. I may have Red Rabbit and Patriot Games transposed, but that should be pretty close.

ClancyFaq used to be updated, I don't know if they've updated it yet. They have a publishing order/chronological order there as well. Probably more accurate than mine.

Edit: URL fixed.

The Clancy FAQ link doesn't work...

You're right about Without Remorse being earlier chronologically, but I still don't recommend starting with it; you don't really understand how Clark fits in the main story if you start out with it IMO.

BTW, haven't read Red Rabbit, it received devastating critiques on Amazon and such and I didn't want to ruin the series for myself - how did YOU like it, Turner?

It was alright. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. A shorter book, so it was a quicker read, and the ending had it's share of suspense. I'd read it again, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

And the link is fixed.

I think you could start with Without Remorse, but starting elsewhere would give you more insight on Clark.
