What art does FF need?

I would love to suggest Icons for
- Baby Spider
- Rhagodessa Spider
- Mucro Spider
- Argyroneta Spider
- Venenum Spider
- Textus Spider

While models would be HOT, I don't feel they are a nessasity. Icons however would be a huge improvement in my opinion.

Everything except the baby spider already has a unique icon.
They're neatly color coded, and easy to identify. I don't see any benefit to changing that.

I do agree that baby spiders, and also mother, could do with a more distinguished icon though.

No, the PROMO has a unique Icon

I mean for the unit. Heck if we could just get the promo icon for the unit THAT would be fine really.

I have stacks of 10+ spiders. Baby, sword, Rhag, giant, whatever... I have a stack of 10 icons that look identical. I would love a way to distinguish at a glance what was what.

You might be able to. Technically that is how the Warrior unit for Orcs, Dwarves and Elves all look different, and it comes with a new icon as well. It would just potentially be a tad bit tricky to line up all the right areas of the code to look for the proper artDef.

I'm pretty sure you can get promotions that change the artdefine, no?

Ghostwalkers do it when they enter haunted lands. they go all black and glowy.

Spoiler :

This makes me want to create a unique Sword spider skin, actually. I could just adjust the texture of the front legs to look metallic, right?

air units would be nice, eagle riders, griffon riders, wyvryn riders, dwarven contraptions or zepplins etc, would make archers and the archer line much more necessary for anti air.

In the late game you could have magic roads like in Masters of Magic. Of course you could use railroads.

since your asking for suggestions.

You might even put in some dead end research branches that allow building smaller heros. Maybe one for each civ that has to be researched before being able to build the unit. Call it some kind of prophecy research so every civ gets a special hero not based on religion.

Some weather events that destroy improvements or buildings.

Research outfiters, limiting them to great engineers makes it hard to get, I wouldn't mind seeing some of those as more tech tree items.

Might be cool to give some ships flying promotion if given by some wizzards air or force spell, limit that to smaller ships perhaps depending on how you see it.

Add another metal / resource path / like crystal swords that negate the metal swords promotions or add plus 1 fire, poison or death like some of the monsters instead of how the metals work.

Add a 4th level of metal adamantium either before or after mithril.

It's not that fall further needs any of this stuff, if your asking for ideas here are a few, some probabally covered allready.

ART

ART goes here.
Please put general ideas in the other idea thread I made. This one is just for requests for models, and buttons, and images, and textures, and stuff.

Research branches, or events, or new features, or anything else, are nothing to with this thread. I'm not asking for ideas.

I'm just saying tell me things that look drab and boring, and how to make them look better.

I haz stuff to show

This is a preliminary version of the Austrin recurve archer I'm working on. It's very far from done yet, but this shows the general direction I'm thinking of. Feedback and suggestions are desireable.

his face may look a little familiar :)

It took me an hour to make that shoulderpad from scratch. I'm possibly considering adding one on the other side too, but I kind of like the non-symettrical look, so I may just leave him with one shoulderpad.

Recurve bow is taken from the Mongol horse archer. I'm wondering perhaps if I made it too large, though.

Used the Ljosalfar Longbowman as base. Though it's modified sufficiently that it'd be hard to tell, I reckon.

Very nice indeed :) Shoulder pad/asymmetry looks great. I'd agree that the bow is a little large - looks heavy whereas Recurve bows were favoured by the Mongols for being lightweight and easy to carry whilst on horseback - the Austrin have similar reasons for wanting them, except they tend to be moving through difficult terrain rather than riding horses.

Can't go wrong with Boromir though :D

It DOES look like boromir. But it's not. Guess it doesn't translate perfectly from 2D to 3D

Here's the head texture so far. It's Aragorn :D

Ah - think it's just the hair is more Boromir-esque - the texture does look Aragorn-ish. On a model that size though I guess it just devolves to the beard :D

I think the Left shoulder not having the big bulky armor piece is fine. It could get in the way of the bow sting on release.

Oh I agree above by the way, Mother also needs a unique Icon

A levitating giant frog mage(if your warhammer savvy, a Slann Mage Priest), 5 hydras with 1- 5 heads, 3 elven mages and a rat. the mages can usethe ffH mage animations, the Rat could use wolf animations but the hydra and Slann will need new animations. im kinda shopping around for willing animators to help me out :p

I need to stop by the WFB mod, having seen it in a while. Are the Skaven models giving you trouble? (sorry off topic)
