In the middle of The Ancestor's Tale, which is proving to be what I expected - a really interesting look at the evolution of our species, presented in an interesting way. And with random, irrelevant asides where he soapboxes about things for no reason, which I am trying to ignore as best I can.

Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre

Watchmen by Alan Moore.........pretty good

Lord of the Flies, for English class.

Getting bogged down by Euclid's confusing language in Book V of his Elements. Should I just gloss it over?

A friend mailed me The Autumn of the Patriarch by Gabriel Garcia Marquez about a week ago. It's not his best work, but it's creepy and well-told nonetheless.

Have you guys ever read the syntopicon? I might have spelled it wrong, but it's close to that. It sounded really interesting, but I have a feeling it's probably not.

Just finished "The Siege of Mecca" by Yaroslav Trofimov after meeting one of the people written about in the book. Amazing detail on what seems to be under publicized piece of recent history.

I don't like the ending. I found it a little disturbing. or maybe it was a scene towards the end.

Just finished! I don't think it was the ending itself that disturbed you, but something near the end prob. did. I'm not really a love story kinda guy, but I really enjoyed the book.

My books will be ready to pick up in a few hours! :D I'll be starting on Teutonic Knights: A Military History.
The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers by Paul Kennedy.
:goodjob: I thought this was a solid book, but compared to Power and Plenty it was vague. I strongly recommend the latter to any student of geopolitical and economic history, or just somebody who wants to learn jack about that sort of thing.
