What Can You Do With an Economics Degree?

Erm, open up your own business with no troubles? Go into mid-management in a corporation?.

Run a nation without running its economy into the ground, plus you can work for any large corporation, work for the government, work for a bank, be a professor, or work for an international institution such as the World Bank or IMF.

how many times have you gone "hmmm.... i wonder the cross elaxticity of demand for Cell phones and Cornchips" now you can find out! Or Think at least you didnt do Art History

Come on, Perf! You should know who Peebles is. She's the superintendent of Minneapolis schools.

The superintendent of Minneapolis schools is supposed to have a certain amount of formal education, something Peebles doesn't have -- hence the reference.

A lot I suppose.
You can always go for an academical carriere, like a doctorate which is what my wife is considering right now( she has a master degree in economy) , but there is also be a demand for you in the public as well as the private sector. What you can do then depends on your field of speciality.Management, accountance, finance or something else?
If you or somebody you know has a base of capital, why not try to open your own business? After all, people with economical degrees usually have been convinced about the blessing of capitalism and now is the chance to prove it right. :)

You could figure out what would be, monetarily speaking, the best thing to do with your economics degree.

That's usually ditch it and go for engineering...

If the parchment is supple enough, you could get one or two good swipes in... but if it's too thin, crumple and uncrumple it first, or you risk paper cuts.

Short of that, you could get a government job telling other people how to spend their money, or ideally, how to spend taxpayers' monies (ideally on one's salary). And of course, since you have no useable skills acquired in the course of obtaining it, you could always teach others to be as useless as onesself.

Both public sector and private sector have work for economists.

The Fed
Ministry of Finance
IMF
World Bank
UNDP

Consultants for various firms and or govts
etc etc.

Hopefully understand the economic reason why you should've gone into engineering.

Yep, that's about it.
Graduate in engineering and then get a Masters on Economics. This will give you a tremendous advantage over traditional economists when searching for a job.

So Luiz, you want to spend a decade in higher education then
Normally, you only specialize in one area, thus developing specialized, or if you prefer, superior knowledge in your field. To get 2 Masters would be inefficient use of resources IMO

You get to wear a long piece of cloth around your neck called a 'tie'. Wearing this cloth around the neck usually denotes higher status than those without one.
