Right behind you!
I'm wondering what difficulty level you guys play on. I play on Monarch (as displayed in my signature).

I usually play on Emperor, sometimes Monarch if I want a relaxed game.

Routinely losing on Emporer as we speak. I can win consistently on all levels before it, but it's a hard transition to get to. I find it requires a LOT more war than I was used to and you're always fighting from behind.

Definately a challenge

Sometimes Emperor, mostly Monarch on huge quiet maps but usually it gets boring afterwards if I'm the strongest civilization alive.

Having a lot of Civ1 and Civ2 XP, I only played one game on Regent, a couple on Monarch, then went to Emperor and have stayed there ever since (one year overall). There are still many things I have to master before I consider making further steps.

I must also admit that I play most games on archipelago maps, which makes it a lot easier by reducing the number of early wars. I like it that way: more development, and little warfare until you have enough variety to make it tactically interesting.

Usually on Monarch. I have won a couple of times on Emperor but since I usually play with "left hand", that level is mostly too much of an uphill struggle.

Monarch, where I win about 50%. I'd do a lot better if I planned, concentrated and MM'd, but it's more fun not win all the time

monarch is a new-ish level for me, but i manage to win 50% (or until im too strong, so i ritire to my tropical island retreat :) )
still learning the level though, so you could call me a regent+ or "would be monarch" player.
but giving it serious effort - watch out sid... im closing in. fast.

I play Demigod, sometimes Emperor or Deity.

Btw, just as a reminder, Deity is higher diff than Demigod. You put it lower in your poll :)

Emperor for a comfortable (usually) game; Deity if I want a challenge, Monarch if I don't. Sometimes lower that that for GOTM or whatever, or if I'm trying a variant. I haven't played C3C on Demigod yet; that may turn out to be the ideal level for me.

Renata

Emporer for a comfortable game, Deity if I'm feeling like a challenge. Monarch is my test level for most variants.

I generaly play Deity (never tried Demigod), I am currently enjoying an OCC space race on Emperor.

Started as Warlord (never played chieftain) - Monarch until few days ago, when i got a clear lead in Middle Ages and then the whole game got boring. Won by domination in 1500AD - now trying Emperor, my first game is going well, probably i'll win it.

I play demigod level now. Emperor has just gotten too easy. And the AI still doesn't stand a chance if I have rails...

I usually play Monarch on huge world & Regent on Archepelago, as I have less experience on those. I also like to set the AI aggression level to "less", so I can more easily develop my civ before looking to expand.
I can see that most everyone else is more experienced than I and play at much higher difficulty levels. However, at 55 I'm probably older than most, with only 3yrs. playing experience. I think its harder for us "old-timers" to progress.
I really enjoy reading the posts, they are very helpful to me. Thanks all.

Same as Renata, Tomoyo, Chieftess, some others; Emperor's a bit simple, especially with artillery and tanks (my favorite weapons of war), however, Demi-God's a bit hard expansion-wise and tech-wise. I still like Emperor, but I might try Demi-God soon...

with only 3yrs. playing experience
I've only been here for 9 months! :p And played for two years...

For us young'uns, three years is an eternity! :D

Only Monarch, I played on cheitan for something like a year before moving in to Warlord. I completly killed my Warlord opponents, moved up to regent. I stayed at regent for a few months, then moved up to Monarch not so long ago (about one month, iirc)
