A wishlist for a future game can most often be summarized in the words "more of everything".

But less is more. Features come at the cost of learning problems, bugs and delayed release dates.

What things in Civ 4 would we need less of, and why?

Generally, I like more of everything.

I voted scenarios.

On the other hand, if they included a scenario with more of everything...

Less desert, less peaks, less ice, less tundra.
As they are now. I wouldnt mind if deserts became farmable like in civ2. Teraforming ftw.

Yes, sometimes less is more. I wished to put my cross to more then one option but not possible. On standard map I want less cities, less ressourcres, less different leaders, less differences between leaders. In chess we only have black and white and do very fine for a long tiome now. I wish future CIV can do without differences between leaders, UU´s UB´s. For me it would be enough if leader one is of blue colour and leader b is red and that would be the only difference between them. Sure, we could add a hundred more ressources, yawn. It will not improve the AI. Less differences between nations would surely improve the AI. And in my option, this would be the best improvement for CIV.

I wish those AI leaders would stop haggling me! I wish there's a LEAVE ME ALONE button I could push. I want LESS unwanted communication with AI leaders.

I voted promotions. Just having the promotions in CivRev would be fine, possibly with upgrades, and maybe Shock and Pinch style promotions. Other than that, I'm good.

Get rid of the Winery. It's a grape plantation. Of course that goes with further additions, like a Winery/Brewery building for cities. Along w/ a few other things.

For the most part I wouldn't want less of anything. While the adage less is more might be quoted here. It would be better to streamline the interface and some game mechanics than start yanking things out.

I agree there should be a stfu button next to other leaders so they can't pester me with their outrageous demands.

Polls. :D

No Civilization-specific units/buildings (outside of scenarios) - make them based on Traits instead (Spiritual Leaders can Recruit Immortals, for example).

I find it amusing how often a select few make the "no civ specific" unit request. The overwhelming opposite want more Civ-specific units.

People that don't want Civ-Specific units can easily take them out of the game. That is probably one of - if not THE easiest "Mod" to do. Just delete them from the UnitInfos.xml, and drop it into CustomAssets.

Yeah...now I think about it, I'd actually argue for more Civ-specific units, if only to have more icons/models to use as I see fit.
-

So what I actually want less of is included scenarios.

I voted "other": Less road-spamming! Give the roads a cost/turn.
Also: Less scenarios! Its a waste of time - let the mods fill that out.

It was a tough choice between promotions & special abilities (because they involve lots of micromanagement, choosing what your unit is experienced in doesn't really make sense, and because special abilities make things difficult for new players), and buildings & wonders (because too many wonders devalues their importance. wonders are supposed to be special one off events that everyone is fighting over).

Good thread though, everyone is always focused on what needs to be added rather than taken away.

Bad suggestions.

HA HA.
