On that note, Farcry part deux would be cool if done with one seemless, Stalker-sized game world. I haven't picked up Crysis, but the mutants vs. mercenaries vs. you of Farcry was beautiful.
Crysis, the first one's graphics are too old and ugly and seriously need an update
In other news, we already have a thread on this, although I guess Swein has ruined it.
a remake/sequel of Baldur's Gate would certainly be nice 
and of course the mentioned Colonization and Alpha Centauri.
As for X-Com: there's already many remakes around, and none of them come even close to doing justice to the original

Id like to see someone try to modernize the old Panzer General series of games. Decent graphics and a better interface coupled with more campaigns would make a remake of those games worth buying. I played my old PS1 version a couple of months ago and it seemed hopelessly clunky and dated.

Sword of the Samurai - With an Oblivion style 3D world it would seem natural to travel and order your troops and advisers around. Also no silly loading screens before a duel in the woods, it would just happen.
Chaos Overlords - Just being able to watch battles between Terminators and religious zealots would make a remake worth it. Preferably it would be coupled with a utility that would convert SC4 cities into the gameboards.

Sacrifice would be awesome if they kept the same game mechanics, but just updated the graphics. I would buy 50 copies because I'd be so happy!

I think it failed because there wasn't the ability to have a sandbox mode or an easy way of making your own maps. It was campaign or multiplayer.

You could sorta do sandbox stuff in the skirmish mode. It was usually how the experts trained their creatures on miracles way ahead of time. There were a couple trainer maps with miracle generators for all kinds of crazy spells. Usually stuff like that giant death storm and shielding.
Based on the Ballad of Bioshock I am pessimistic at best. My guess is that it will be dumbed down.
