What is a green job?

Well you can use wood powered steam winches to drag the trees to a road or river.
The steam engines could also generate electricity to power saws.
You can use unmanned balloons manoeuvred by winch to pick trees out of the forest so you can select the best ones.
If there is not a river to take out the trees (less the branches and brash that have been burnt for power) then they would be transported by a larger balloon powered by biodiesel.

Lumberjacks could work in a green way.

we're screwed.

individual transport is simply not feasible as it is on a global scale. before long, we will only see the very rich have cars on their own.

Why are the cost of cars going to increase so much that only the very rich can own them.
The cost of the materials is likely to increase faster than general inflation but there is likely to be material substitution and people will buy smaller cars.

The cost of fuel will almost certainly increase much more than general inflation but how much are people willing to pay. Where I live it was $9/US gallon recently.

What will happen is that people will use their smaller cars less.

The fumes are not as bad as they were according to the article. I would assume that the output of cancer causing fumes will continue to decline. Unfortunately many things cause cancer but luckily diesel is not very bad.

If you walk to work every day at an oil platform, is that a green job?

Uh, no.
