What is an old mod you would most like to see updated/remastered?

This thread is mostly to show appreciation to mods and modder's that made awesome content that perhaps no longer works, is from an older Civ game, or that was just one step away from perfection had it have gotten a little more support.

I hope that this is the right place to post because it isn't about creating mods per-say or about giving suggestions, just general appreciation and sharing good experiences from the past. But maybe productive discussion here might shed light on new projects. Thank you~

To answer my own question. The mod that I actually ended up enjoying the most was the Basic Modern Civilizations for YNAEMP mod. Even without a scenario and special features, it was by far my favorite mod to use for playing TSL as I felt it was great for roleplay and allowed me to play many nations I normally couldn't without any one feeling out of place.

Unfortunately to my knowledge the mod no longer really works with the latest expansion and it can be quite a bummer having to downgrade to standard rules. It also seemed the mod was planning on including even more interesting civs that just never really made the cut or got developed. If the mod were ever to be updated, the one small thing I would really like to see is the countries to get updated with all the new architectural support that the game features now. For example, all the East Asian and Southeast Asian nations kind of use Japan's architecture, but now China and Korea could have their own original architectures.

The mod was still very fun for me though and I still occasionally downgrade to toy around with it since I like it so much. It is the one mod I consistently keep coming back to when I am bored.

It might sound weird, but I loved the mod where I could play Civ solo. As in, without any other Civs on the map. I loved that to just chill out and enjoy the map exploration and building.

I'll post an update of Basic Modern Civilization later, I'm trying to figure the civilization color issues...

Rhyes and Fall of Civilization, hands down. Just the experience of living through history. You can do late starts and you can just start playing, or you can do longer runs and switch through the civs. Stability and just trying to survive with your mega-empire was just an amazing experience. Plus, it is probably the most educational of the civ variants.

Unfortunately, the concept doesn't work with the destacked cities in Civ6. France would just be one city full of districts and no farms. But yeah, that is the civ game I want to play.

My favourite mods were also Rhye's and Fall (by italian modder Rhye, obviously), Random RFC and the Revolutions/Legends of Revolution mod that combined legendary units with the ability of breakaway civs.
They tackled also my biggest issue with the civ series, namely that you start in the very early beginning and rise/grow all the way till the modern times. I loved the idea if crumbling civs, of new emerging civs half way through the game, of switching your old, ossified civ and start afresh. I'm curious how Humankind will handle this, if they just stack new flavours on your old civ or allow the possibility of collapse and disintegration enter the game.

I don't see the problem. French farmers in cities are quite common, right?

Thank you for pointing this out! This makes me quite happy :)

I also used to use that mod a lot, I had almost forgotten about it, but there is something very relaxing about watching the statistics of your empire grow.

Maybe if you are playing on Civ's base TSL map (Who does?) would France only be able to fit one city. But on the Greatest Earth Map for YNAEMP (The third largest and most common middle ground map for performance on most computers) you can still fit as many as 3-4 cities in France just fine. Go up to the bigger map sizes and you could likely fit even more.

I miss Events and Decisions, particularly the Civ specific decisions. They added colour to the game.

With civ6 and its current modding limitations, I really miss being able to update/remaster my old mods.

Your complete overhaul mod was really good while it was being developed. It may take a little longer but hopefully we get those tools eventually and you can continue work on it :))

There was a mod for Civ 4 (I think) that I heard about through the grapevine. It amped up the religious aspect to a ridiculous level, eventually being able to create ridiculously powerful units like the four horsemen or the Greek Pantheon. Sounded horribly unbalanced and ridiculously fun. I'd love to see this added to civ 6 not as a serious victory addition, (though with some balancing I could see it adding value to religion) but as a mod for those times when I get stomped by Saladin and want payback.
As an aside, if anyone knows the name of that mod, please let me know! :)

Definitely Revolutions (Civ4). Seeing breakaway colonial civs in the game would be amazing.
