wow, i never knew generation "Y" went back so far i suppose the thinking was those people would have no vibrant knowledge of what life was really like before the cold war "ducks for someone to correct me." i always liked the term for our generation the "net generation" allowthough it would extend a little less into the 1980's. One thing i found interesting was that they said on of the possible cutoffs for generation y vs. z was 1999, as those people woould have no knowledge of the world pre-9/11, but really 3 years? i believe the cutoff of time when you can really make observations about the world (and i mean the world, not the metaphorical 'world around you') would be about 8 years. which is why i will have virtually no respect for anyone born after 1993 when it comes to world events and terrorism. This generation will be a freshman in my highschool when i'm a senior.

These generations apply only to the ones born in the US..

Read the text in the link. Note the references to the rest of the world

Last time I checked, the US had not annected Wales ;)

Generation Y, until know I always thought I was X.

I'm sorry but the people born in the 80's (especially between 80-85) are alot more like Generation X than the rest of 'Generation Y.' I didn't even think there was a Generation Y.

@Shadylookin- It's spelt "Saviour" :p (being pedantic is fun)

I'm Generation Y. Why couldn't they have came up with a decent name, like the Computer Generation?

@Corsair - Well, there are other nicknames for our generation such as the Y2K Generation. :).

@Zarn - I perfer to not be associated with the Generation Xers since I feel more like a Generation Yer

Whenever I see a public poll about personal information, I cannot help but think that the creator of the poll is working for some sort of marketing agency.

Strangely, we have two votes for the Lost Generation. Does anyone else find this unlikely?

The year I was born - was the last time an American driver won the F1 world championship (1978). I think that has some connection to my superb natural talent & driving skills. ;)

Only if your british, and since you falsely accused me of misspellings when judgement day comes don't expect any help from me. Remeber all conceivable deities favor America.

Generation Y, how lame is that. It should be something cool, like Generation Omega :p

i like why,it's like why !?i generation what the f***?

I think Generation Y is pretty much just the little-brother-followers of Generation X, I mean hey, they even followed us in the alphabet!

And why - but why where we named 'Generation X'? It's those fiendish Baby Boomers. I'm tellin' ya, they are the self-righteous, unbending, I am always right, everyone else is wrong... enemy. They screwed everything up, and on top of that, they even told us exactly what they thought about us when they branded us 'Generation X'. And now they just don't want to step down.

Well, they're going to, whether they like it or not. And Generation X will not be visiting them in the retirement home... ever. :p

I don't see an 104 year old (at least) coming onto this forum.

Hey CG how come you didn't put the generation that came after Y? :p

Baby boomer here (1960). But I always thought the baby boom ended in 1964? I know it peaked in 1960...
