After reading Tsubasa and XXXholic, I wondered, "How much would people be willing to give up for something?" You can use you imagination to think of what you get, but it has to be something that money (or Mastercard) can't buy, and something that you would be willing to give up a lot for. You can give up abstract things like your ability to think for yourself, your memories, or it can be something material.

Pretend that you somehow ended up in a world of nothingness, and you were offered the ability to return, but only if you gave something up.

Are you asking if the world would be destrioed; How much would you give to save it? is that the question?

I'm asking: If what you worst fear, and then multiply that by 100, then add 4, would happen, what would you be willing to give up? Maybe I should set a meter.

1) Nothing
2) A small amount of money/material
3) A large amount of money/material
4) Your relationship with someone fairly important to you
5) Your relationship to a loved one
6) Your relationship with everyone you care for
7) Your memories of a loved one
8) Your memories of your most loved one
9) All your memory, except that of pain
X) Your ability to think

Giving up the ability to think or comprenend is a bit extreme but I think I would go with that or 9

I would give my life for my country. for the girl I love, and for my family.

Meh. Not a choice. Life is too controversial, because there are people who don't want it, especially if what they most fear will happen.

:hmm: Let's see now, would that be:
(Yuri's Fears)(100+4)
-or-
(Yuri's Fears)(100)+4?

Have you been forgetting your meds again?
:joke:

This question seems a bit too abstract to be answered clearly by anyone. You'd realy need to specify what exactly this mysterious problem is, and how exactly you "give up" whatever we're supposed to be sacraficing. Perhaps if you could provide an example from your source material (those two books you say you've read) then we could put what you're asking into perspective.

In these two books, the example that I'll give is that Syaoran, an archaeologist and childhood friend of the Princess, Sakura, is faced with the problem of what he would give in order to be able to travel through different worlds to collect the feathers of Sakura's "Tsubasa" (Wing), which is also her heart. XXXholic is the same storyline.

And it's (Yourfears100) + 4 :p

I'd have to say 3 because everything above that involves messing with my mind and those of friends and family, which is most likley what I'd be trying to avoid. It does seem that most of your options could be worse than what this person would be sacraficing for. If I'm going to be a hero, only Death will keep me from experienceing the glory.

For an "other" choice I would sacrafice the lives of an entire nation and have to experience the pain of their various deaths spread over several days. And then being forces to vividly remember that pain for the rest of my life. (re-experienceing it through dreams for a few moths after the point) Now that I think of it, that sounds like it could be an interesting curse... :mischief:

Tomoyo, in your scenario, what is available to give up?

I wonder my others hate each other...the system wants us dead...dead i tell you!

Anything that is worth a lot to you, but you cannot take your life.

Also, if you give it up, you can save you most important person from completely disappearing - not just dying.

I would give up everything except my mind. To alter my mind goes against everything I am, but people, places, things... given time I could invent my own, and retreat into my own universe, which is my master plan if anything apocalyptic happens. :nuke:

Anything but my relationship with a loved one, my memories of a loved one, a loved one, or my ability to think nothing could be worth those, I would rather see all of humanity suffer eternal damnation for my selfishness.

If Bush gets elected, I'll be willing to give up my rotten eggs :D
