I chose "other"--libertarianism!

(Which includes capitalism, but doesn't allow corporations to curry favor with the government, or be interfered with by the government so long as their actions aren't violent or fraudulent.)

El Supremeo The Magnificent wishes to inform his loyal (and not so loyal) subjects that a benevolent dictatorship headed by - yours truly - is the only permissable form of government. :goodjob:

Btw, let the peasants eat spam! :D

One endorses the above, but in a different format; one with oneself in charge:D
As for that most facetious last comment...Isn't it far too early in the morning for that type of thing, Andy;) ?

Other.

Personally I would like a democratic communist government with green iniatives, where instead of the Bolshevic concept of dictatorship there is no specific leader and laws and alike are voted on by the whole of the country rather than MP's etc. As for the day to day running of the country each region would elect a reprensative every 3 years who would lead a council etc etc. These represenatives would all be considered equal in parliment, rather than having a secetary of defense etc.

Yeah, I can see the faults in this but the way I think 200 years ago your average person wouldn't have though today's politics were possible, you just gotta think positive.

:( Damn! Deposed the very next post by that execrable evil one 'darkshade'. I change my vote to a revolutionary form of underground guerilla government. And after a unanimous vote of the revolutionary council - Comrade Capp is elected supreme leader! :D

Let the proletariat rise up and take the spam that is rightfully theirs!

hmpff. sweden is the most famous socialist democracy.

anyway, anarchy is my ideal "government", but i don´t think it´s possible to aply it on the world of today.

Any form of govt is ideal for me ..... so long as I am in total charge. :D If not, then something like libertarianism along the lines adovated by allan. Or at least, capitalism where I can democratically elect for my fave party, and the freedom to be who I choose to be.

Hate to nit pick but you cannot have an "ideal" in real life ;) But I would say that social democracy is the most practical. By the way Canada over the past ten years has been movng more towards a capitalist system (lots of deregulation)

Well, I chose capitalism, just because.

Could someone please give me a brief description on the concept of a socialist democracy?

As you can see, I ain't too keen on the politics thing.

Unlike some of you guys, I don't like the idea of being dictator. Don't wanna get shot at two months after, you understand?

I like the idea of libertarianism the way allan describes it, but I guess I'm stuck with the current government for the meantime, which isn't as bad as it could be.

Social Democracy is essentially a Capitalist REpublic with reasonable limits on freedom. You have the rights, just not to the fullest extent. Like a free market/parliamentary system it uses Locke's social contract as its base (YOu are born with certain rights, you sacrifise a few when you enter social contract IE government). A social democracy is a society inwhich you have freedom of speech, but will be punished if you yell "fire" in a crowded room.

Kinda hard to explain, but essentially all you do is combine the theories John Locke and John Kenneth Galbraith and you essentially have a social democracy.

And privatization. :(

I hate it!!

Although so long as the main stuff (ex. health care) stays public run.....I'll be happy.

I was wondering why you didn't have constitutional monarchy as a form of government (and for that matter republic). I know that usually these are capitalist but some are not, for example Labour in UK. Anyway didn't Canada get its form of government from Britain? It is not a republic but has our Queen as head of state.

Btw, that's true.

anyway, anarchy is my ideal "government", but i don´t think it´s possible to aply it on the world of today.
No, really. Anytime I think of anarchy I get a view of Pol Pot and his magnifient... ew.
So could u... talk more specific?

Basicly, capitalism with ****ing big taxes and a goverment which does anything to prevent
large companies growing larger. Well that's what it was here.
(EDIT: ) And good health-care, education etc. which is FREE.

Such simple? Pure anarchy? Yup, it REALLY wouldn't work.

From what I see, Labor isn't doing a very socialist job. hardly anything that was privatised under the tories has been re-nationalized, and Tony threw out the idea of nationalizing the industries when he became Labor leader.
