What kind of devices do you own and use?

 Valka, you may have to explain party line to these youngsters. I think it might just mortify them!

-Samsung Note II phone
-Nexus 7 (old one)
-Kindle e-reader (e-ink version)
-HTPC hooked up to my plasma for games/movies/music/streaming TV/whatever. Powerful (or it used to be...) little rig in a minimalist Lian Li Q11. Probably going to upgrade the video card soon.
-Fitbit Flex (I love this thing, tracks my steps and my sleep)

Defunct devices I own but never use:
-Ancient celeron laptop from 2005 somewhere in my closet.
-Intel Core2Duo Desktop that I just retired after moving.
-Xbox 360 with a bunch of awesome games I am trying to sell on craigslist.
-Old iPod 60GB (mechanical disk version) that I found when I was moving. Still works!
-Very ancient Archos Jukebox 20GB MP3 player from 2002.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop that I bought about a year ago, has a SSD and pretty good specs although I don't use it to play graphics-intensive games (I only have a little time for stuff I already know, and that is old turn-based stuff and Paradox games).

I suppose I have a second laptop, but that is the old Dell work computer. It's a Latitude, I think it's five years old.

I have an old Samsung flip phone, I'm looking to upgrade that on my birthday. I really need the GPS and I want to use the run tracker app my brother has on his.

Carrying a phone running sort of sucks. Even the smallest phone is too large to fit comfortably in a pocket while running and holding it in your hand is annoying. I suppose you could slip it into an armband or something. But if you really want to track your runs accurately all you need is a cheap pedometer, or spend a little more and get a fitness tracker like the Jawbone Up, one of the many Fitbits, or the slew of other fitness trackers. They are much smaller than even the smallest phone and fit on your wrist or into a pocket where you will not notice them jumbling around while you run. (I do not recommend the Nike one, it is not accurate.)

I run two desktops, one as an HTPC (windows 7) on my living room big screen, one as my general computer on my desk (windows 8). I have a galaxy s3 phone (android).

I've never had a problem with a phone in my pocket while running before. I don't wear booty shorts, though, I'd imagine those would have a lot less space for devices.

 Haven't gotten there yet. I am not running around in speedos or anything, but in my shorts anything larger than a keyfob bounces around and it's annoying.

My phone is an old blackberry style (9670 I think) running BB6. I tried to upgrade last november (2012) but after trying both an iPhone 4s and a Galaxy Nexus, I came to the conclusion that ancient BB6 is better than both iOS 6 and Android 4.2.2 so I reverted back to my blackberry since alternatives sucked. Looking forward to maybe getting a Q10 in a few months.

BB solidarity right here. I will never join the screen only-phones brigade, like the rest of the sheeple. I need a nice ergonomic keyboard.

Every time my wife's insurance purchased a child, I purchased a new laptop. I ended up with 3 of each. Now each child as their own computer. I have purchased two Dell XPS laptops in the last two years. One is a 17" I7, with Nvidea 555M Graphics for Blu-ray 3D. The other is a 12" flip screen touch with I7 and hd 4000 graphics.

I have built 5 more computers besides the above which are no longer in use. There is a HP inkjet all-in-one and a HP color laser jet. There is an old HP and Packerd Bell desktop that are hanging out somewhere.

One sony tv and a handful of Samsungs. 3 Tivo units that are over 11 years old, but still chugging along despite the onset of HD. Two TiVo units for backup. One Philips DVR hooked up and 5 sitting on a shelf after downsizing.

One Verizon LG android phone. Other stuff not in use that often; include a Wii, XL DS, DS, and Gameboy consoles. Some MP players thrown in for good measure. I have two Panasonic camcorders, and one Sony that had their use once upon a time.

That was a hard question, and I am sure I got some parts wrong, or left some out.

What's this? Your wife's insurance purchased a child? How does that work? Insurance against what?

But you, seriously, bought children? I have heard of such a thing. But still...

Are you seriously trying to mess with my analogy? I only bought the laptops, which got me into trouble as it is.

Oh. Right.

Hahahaha?

No. I don't get it. Still, I've had a very depressing year.

According to Obama, neither do a huge chunk of US citizens.

Why does this have a Red Diamond?
Just curious about the SERIOUS prefix... Now I know.

My current set up:
Windows 7 desk top. 3 years old. Three extra 2 Terabyte HDs that I never is going to fill up. Got them by mistake. Use it solely for gaming during weekends.

2006 Macbook Pro for surfing and everyday utility. Doesn't support the newest IOS, but is otherwise still good. Declining battery health is an ongoing issue.

Iphone 4s - had it for 2 years soon. Very good device. Use it as a phone, sms, finding locations, as a camera, radio, alarm clock, music player, plus for occasional surfing and when needed - as a modem for the laptop.

- a two year old packard bell notebook (windows 7 / linux dual boot)
- a 5 year old desktop that I hardly ever use (Vista)
- a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone (though technically my company owns it...)
- a Kindle
- some smart tv box thing
- I got some cheap android pad as a gift at a convention, but I don't really use it as it's crap

that's about it.

Two android smart phones (one belongs to the company), an okish Dell laptop (belongs to the company), and a kindle. I travel too much to warrant having a desktop, and i don't care about TV/radio.
