I consider upgrading my computer or not and I'm going to buy a new notebook as soon as possible, I'm trying to predict what a system may guarantee to let me play civilization 6.

Here's what Sid Meier's Civilization 6 will be like :

According to the link below it'll be released probably not before 2014 and more likely somewhere around October or November 2015 :

So, What May Be Civilization 6 System Requirements ?
Any ideas are welcome, thanks...

The link is a fantasy.

If your PC can already do 100 turns in less than 10 minutes, it can prolly run Civ 6.

Since it hasn't been announced that there will even be a Civ 6, how can system requirements be predicted?

Just choose a computer that is higher end, and you will probably be fine. Definitely, go with a SSD drive.

Depends if they remove the 1 unit per tile and make maps bigger then I'm sure a average computer will be able to run it.
The 1 unit per tile requires a lot of hardware hopefully they learned their lesson

My prediction:

You'll need a faster graphics card.
You'll need a faster CPU.

My prediction:

The graphics card for Civ VI will likely have to support DirectX11. (Those who currently play the DirectX9 version of Civ V will need new graphics card.) If a new version of DirectX comes out in the next 12 months, it would be recommended.

For the desktop version:
Windows 7+ will be minimum. Windows 8 will be recommended.
4 GB of RAM will be minimum. 8 GB will be recommended.
20 GB+ of free disk space will be required.
A quad-core CPU will be minimum. An oct-core will be recommended.
(Note that CPU clock speed is just about maxed out already; faster machines are now about adding more CPUs along with writing code that can take advantage of multiple CPUs.)

The tablet version: Will need high speed internet access to the desktop machine meeting the above specifications you have that's actually going to be running Civ VI. The tablet will just be used as an input device & screen.

I've got a mouse, a keyboard, and the kind of confidence that comes from posting on an internet forum. Prediction is easy. ;)

System requirements are going to be generic enough that [gaming] computers from 3-4 years before release date will run it just fine (although perhaps not on maxed out settings). Since it will probably be 3-4 years before a Civ 6, any computer purchased now will likely be able to run it on average settings just fine.

Seems a bit silly though, since no one knows if and when a Civ 6 is coming out and 4 years is a long enough time to get yet another computer upgrade, although that may just be me.

Rule of thumb for system requirements:
Not playable in a satisfactory way on the computer you have now or even one you buy in the next year that isn't a mini super computer.

I've bought a PROBOOK PRBG5811 for about 640 USD and shipping.
It has Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM, 4 GB RAM and GeForce GT 635M.

In my country something with a better gpu must be at least twice the price. The notebooks I found with prices around 1100 USD didn't have significantly better GPUs so I stopped searching.

I feel kind of sure that a new civilization type game(maybe alpha centauri II) will be and I hope it'll run that.
