I see that apparently I have won by walkover, cause evidently your mind has left you to visit its grandma.
Yeah, youre teh win!!1
Havent you heard what they say about internet arguements? they say winning them is like winning the special olympics, you might win, but youre still ********.
I honestly didn't know it was a competition of any kind. Did I insult you when I said the people who post on IMDB are morons? Do you know how I found that out? I post on the IMDB forums, or well rather did for a short a while.
So technically Im one of those people, and when I was generalizing (calling them morons), of course there are exceptions to that rule (me being the genius that I am).
So sorry if I hurt your feelings.
I was half expecting you to accuse me of ripping off Orwell for having used the year '1984' in my posts above, but instead you went for another 'youre dumb' insult.
Now for the sake of the argument...
"emotional turmoil beneath the skin of the main characters who both are going through episodes in their separate lives = POS movie."
A lot of "art" is about even less than that, perhaps that is why it is art. It lies, in this instance, in depicting an important instance in peoples lives with the least use of exclamation marks.
Is that what art is? I always thought of great art as something that can't be defined and that's what makes it art. But anyway, yeah I did see that they both had some issues, loneliness for example. Still it failed to hold my interest.
So not entertaining, not funny, not interesting, not to me.
For any bozo can show a lot of violence and sex on film. Just as any bozo can and does appreciate that, including myself when I am in the mood for it.
Why wont you call it a "girly movie" while your at it, because it is about feelings.
Lost in Translation is a movie that wakes introspection and reassessment of ones life in a person, but one has to be receptable. True art IMO.
Why dont I call it a girly movie? Cause it was a boring movie. So now Im a homophobe for not liking a boring movie, just because said movie has ambitions of being arty?
Youre reaching again, just like you did when you said I was ripping off Bill Hicks, and youre calling me an idiot again.
If youre willing to reach that far, why dont you reach over here and jerk me off?
(can you tell who I'm rippring off now? His name starts with C and ends with 'arlin').
And well about your violence and sex, I cant stand movies like that anymore. Used to love them untill about 5 years ago, nowadays Im just bored of them.
Seen it all before.
"fascinating exoticness of Japanese society = Back in 1984... we've already gone over this part havent we? yeah."
So Japanese society can not be fascinating to westerners ever again because it was fascinating then? I fail to see your point, please explain.
No, Im still interested in japanese culture (not gaga about it like anime fans are, but interested), which is probably why I didnt think anything I saw in the movie was strange or new. Seen it all before, if you havent then it is probably interesting.
but it was back in the 80's that western pop culture 'discovered' Japan and japanese culture, and the yuppies went to sushi restoraunts and hollywood made all of those cheesy 'clash of cultures' comedies about americans going to japan and Ninjas were in every single movie/video game.
This has been a fun discussion, and again, sorry if I was being insulting.
I saw this as a lighthearted discussion about some trivial stuff, youre ok in my book if your'e a Bill Hicks fan.
