Listened to Brill Bruisers, the new album by The New Pornographers. I quite liked it. With a lot of their past work, it could be easily divided up based on who the lead singer is. This is a Dan Bejar song. This one is Neko Case. This one is A.C. Newman. Fewer and farther between are songs where multiple singers take center stage and you just think, this is a New Pornographers song. Lack of band cohesion is something I've struggled with on their past records. But Brill Bruisers is much less like that, it has a much higher proportion of songs that are group efforts instead of being dominated by one person. Top 10 of the year almost for sure, might make it into the top 5.

To be honest, I personally have to give it 2nd place. Giving #1 to Grand Illusion. But it isn't like 2nd from Styx sucks (or 3rd or 4th or...)
