Inspired by that other thread with a song that.. erm, won't quite make it to the top, I would like you to consider the following:
You are in a room with about 20 other persons, friends and relatives. Your grandfather is there and so are your younger cousins who are especially happy today because they just got hold of tickets to the next Justin Bieber show. Your brother, the one that works as a DJ, is there and your sweetheart took some time of from playing the cello with the orchestra to be there with you. Finally, your best friend is there as well. Someone who, despite being a poor student at the university, manages to keep up a rock'n'roll lifestyle in par with Keith Richards.
They have all come because you have promised to play them the best song in the world - ever. As the final chord ring out in the room the assembled look at each other and then at you, nodding their heads in acknowledgment of the truth of your statement. That really was the best song in the world ever made.
Now, which song was it?
You must settle on one song, and one song only, but as the OP I will reserve the right to give you more than one example. This of course is to inspire, perhaps confuse or even upset you. Here we go:
Is it a classical piece or is it an golden oldie?
Perhaps traditional music or the work of a singer/songwriter?
Would everyone agree upon classic rock or even a pop song?
Is it a gospel or a hymn?
Does your country's vaults contain treasures still undiscovered by the english-speaking world?
Or would you simply not allow anyone to leave the room until they all agreed on this as the best song ever made?
What say ye?
