What Taylor Swift thinks about 2017, and what it teaches us about Activism

Yes, by all means continue posting incoherent walls of text defending your pride against the accusation of derailing the thread with your snobbishness, it is certainly a good look.

1. If anything my comment brought us closer back to 2017 being terrible or the political significance of Swift's speech - compared to the debate that the other two were having.

2. Synsensa's is a serious accusation, apparently fueled by a certain ammount of frustration with my person. So i have both the right and arguably even some obligation to explaion myself.

3. Since in doing so i have still made plenty of tangential points on topic, which you are not doing right now, i suggest that if you feel a sense of derailment, you will have to place the responsibility with Synsensa.

Oh yes it's a very serious accusation! *strokes mustache, harrumphs with genteel sensibility*

This appears to be a misunderstanding:
I don't care about everybodies opinion.
For various reasons i sort of care about Synsensa's.
Apparently you feel i shouldn't.
Noted.

My attack. Sue me, then. Can't have people spreading libel about you. My lawyer will be in touch with your lawyer. They will undoubtedly agree with you that my words were a heinous assault upon your person.

No, your contributions tend to be along the lines of equating modern day interests with anti-SJW sentiments. Like your post in this thread about how this generation of pop is some footage of a college kid from far-right Milo Yiannopolous. You've made entire threads about this sentiment, and you routinely get into entire diatribes about the left and its proponents in popular culture. This is usually coupled with remarks about how you don't care about popular culture (you made such a remark in this very thread), all the while railing against the idea at every given opportunity as you try to form connections between innocuous scenarios and nefarious agendas from the evil PC/SJW fanatics.

To be fair, your assessment is probably somewhat inaccurate somewhere. But since it's impossible to know for sure, your guess is as good as anyone's.

That's a bigly yuge mistake. Life becomes better when you stop caring about my opinion.

Ok, i have now tried to read the entirety of the thread.
Which appears to be about Hillary Clinton and who has family members or co-workers of color and is particularly justified in being upset about Trump (you know, because bringing down the Republic would have been totes a second rate reason).

Anyway, i couldn't find any statistic that sheds light on this "aryan princess" theory in the thread.
Alas, the Sidebood Gazette and Yougov have this to offer:

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entr...086e4b025f99e1a9d2b?ncid=inblnkushpmg00000009

Since in the view of many here anybody who didn't vote Clinton is a Nazi (including obstinate Bernie Bros and confused grandma who was really sure that it was monday), we are half-way to proving this thing.
It shouldn't be hard to get a statistic demonstrating the relative conservatism of Ms. Swift's fanbase and then we are done and can debate how it is really Putin's fault that Americans are kinda bad at politics in the 28 other threads we have for that very purpose.

Moderator Action: I appreciate that this is not an RD thread, but if all people can do with the freedom is to discuss each other, rather than the thread title, this thread has little need to exist.

There's a meme going around on some right wing sides, because she was criticized for refusing to be a culture warrior and speak out against Trump.
I doubt many people actually think she's that, it's just, as you'd expect, the usual people who don't understand memes, or don't want to understand them when it suits them.

Who would have guessed? :D

It's really fascinating to watch how much meaning people ascribe to presidential elections for their personal life. I can't imagine that kind of hysteria happening in Germany, unless maybe the AfD suddenly gets into power or something. I really wonder what's causing this, is it the media, or is it just the American Attitude? Who knows.

Yes, i know that. (As i have pointed out multiple times now).

My point is that this can actually be demonstrated.
I.e. We show that Ms. Swift's fans are conservatives or Nazis or whatever the heck we want. And then we show that these people actually agree with her on the year being great in the first place.
Who would have guessed? :D
Yes, it's astonishing! :)

Oh that's what you mean... I misread your post!

But yeah, that second part, that's obvious nonsense, her fanbase is mixed of all kind of people, and even those hitpiece-articles on feminist sites are usually full of highly upvoted comments saying that they should stop coming up with ways to criticize her for the most pettiest BS, and people saying they like her music.

Seems to be a very specific group of people who try to paint her as a person who's associated with the right-wing, the same group that paints everybody who does not lick their ideological boots as that.

Narrcissim and cognitive dissonance.

A good many people truly believed that their worldview was infallible and once The Great Golden One was elected it suddenly became self-evident that this wasn't true. They haven't quite come to terms with that little factoid yet and have allowed their own narcissim to turn them into the political version of a bunch of bums fighting over garbage in an alleyway.

Just my two cents.
