What Video Games Have You Been Playing? Five-and-Twenty: I Used to Play, But then I Took an Arrow to the Knee

Planet Crafter on Steam.

It is really fun to play on co-op with a friend. :)

I think you can choose from 3 planets to terraform, or a 4th if you get the DLC.

It was almost half price during the Steam Summer Sale.

The steam summer sales got to me too:D
Got the Typing of the Dead Overkill. The House of the Dead I played the most to this day, like immensely so, mostly because of the funny Grindhouse story, over the top characters and great music which I the downloaded from elsewhere to keep banging my head to from time to time.
Great bonus that this version actually has mouse aimed classical House of the Dead plus the Playstation 3, then exclusive, scenarios with Varla Guns...so the Typing part is the actual extra for me:D
Finally I get to play this guilty pleasure game again after I retired my Wii years ago:)

That's an excellent game, Kaitzilla. It's a great mix of survival and exploration and seeing your efforts have a very active change in the world is the cherry on the top.

Since Fields of Mistria is about to get a big update, I am still trying to catch up on stuff introduced in the last update -- chiefly, getting past level 60 in the dungeons. Unfortunately it requires two items that are NOT spawning despite my spending entire days in the caves.

Still playing Diablo Immortal with some people I know from 2022, but looking for a new game.

Titan Quest 2 EA has been delayed. Olden Era EA has been delayed.

I'm looking for something like these two games that has come out recently or a card game. Slay the Spire 2 seems to be scheduled for early 2026?
I quit Hearthstone some months ago and it has been going through a lot of changes. Big patch tomorrow.

For the King 2 and Across the Obelisk are two good games, but one run takes approx 6 hours and they are 4 player games by default. That's a lot of time.

I tried Assassin’s Creed Shadows on PS5… actually exactly my setting, but i don’t know, i did not like it actually. Prefer AC Odyssey much over that.
Maybe Ghost of Yotei will be a better RPG open world game with Japan-setting. Although i also didn’t like Ghost of Tsushima that much… 🤔

Odyssey was just epic =)

Odyssey is great open world. Very pretty.

Monster Train 2 came out pretty recently, and it's one of the best deckbuilding roguelikes around. Runs are of a similar length to StS.

After about two years of leaving it sit for a while, I’ve picked up Cities: Skylines II. So far, performance wise, it’s much more better than at launch. Plus the region packs make building a city much more interesting.

Also tweeting around Stellaris to make it somewhat future proof. The only major mod I have concerns with is Planetary Diversity mod, which has been. A staple in my load order for a long time.

The problem with Odyssey is the idiotic scaling and ridiculous stat inflation - both most probably consequences of the extreme monetization of the game, to push people to buy boosts and such.
Completely prevented me to play the game despite me wanting VERY MUCH to immerse myself in the world (and the main character being seemingly much more charismatic than Bayek, which took a lot of time to somewhat grow on me and of who I was never really a fan of).
To this day, I'm waiting for some mod that would do for the game what Reduce Number Bloat did to Divinity : Original Sin 2, so I don't end up with 100 000 damage per hit and 500 000 resources required for the next upgrade.

What exactly do you mean ? I just started this game, notice there are 4 settings for scaling - standaard, heavy, medium and light,

which one would you recommend ?

I absolutely ABHOR level scaling. The very idea is a conceptual stupidity which only exists due to the lazyness of designers. Any kind of level scaling is already anathema to me. Also, it comes usually in hand with randomly-generated items, which makes everything the same (you can find, early in the game, "athenian helmets" from the current war in the old lost Ithacus ruins that are explicitely said to have been abandonned for centuries, kinda kills the vibe).

While AC:Origins had zones with select levels (which is already kinda stupid, but at least it's fixed), Odyssey has zones with only "floor levels" (i.e. : the enemies are at least this level) and every single foe that is above said "floor level" is scaled to the player.

As for the stat inflation, it's just the usual (but grossly ridiculous) pileup of meaningless zero - you'll do 100 damage at the beginning, 100 000 at the end, but the fights will still be about as long as before. The numbers are basically meaningless except to make you grind.

That's up to you and how much you want to be able to outpace the lower-level foes - all the scaling options only affect how much levels more you can have compared to a weaker foe, by steps of 2 (so between 0 and 8 or so, IIRC).

So basically, if you are in some early zone with a floor level of 10, as long as you're below lvl 10, all foes will be at minimum lvl 10. If you are lvl 33 and you have "light scaling", they will be at minimum lvl 25.

Yes, they also scale in the middle of mission I noticed. I just turned level 12 and all the enemies around me immediately raised in level too.

You’re right that is a bit silly, I’ll set it at light, tnx.

Edit,

That seems to be the case yes, level is all important, much more than any gear you use or any special ability you have, if you're level 12 a couple of level 13 level wild pigs will tear you to pieces, when you're level 14 you will defeat the same pigs comfortably.

The enjoyment of the game lies in the typical assassin gameplay and the recreation of the Greek cassical world (a better fit than post Roman Britain, but not as good as Egypt imho.), I doubt I will play much of it, just long enough to see Athens I guess.

If any one is gonna play or replay AC: Odyssey, this guy's channel shows you the best and most fun ways to play the game -

I've been back on a Minecraft kick, along with the usual BTD6 events and medal grinding. I have a big pile of games yet to be played sitting in my Steam library but I just keep coming back to the same handful...
