With the recent complications arising from such concepts as dark matter, wormhole theory, red vs. blue shift, superstring theory, <Sim>'s own extra-special relativity, not the mention the meta-spline reticulation debate, <Sim> has decided to take on a more rational approach to his/her theorizing. After all, there are so many inconsistencies and unknowns still lurking in the day to day activities of Sims across the world. For instance, what happened to all the pets in SimCity? One day they were there and the next day they were gone, vanished without a trace. Or how is it that Sims are all able to carpool, but yet not one Sim seems to own a car? Better yet, what's the deal with "inventory"? How is it that no one seems to have a problem with the seemingly infinite universe that exists within each and every Sim's pockets? But <Sim> needs to focus, and he needs a starting point. Should he/she start with the tangible or the intangible?
<Sim> has a brilliant idea for a video game about running the lives of people in their homes, but he/she is having a difficult time finishing up the storyline for one group of characters. One couple needs to be broken up, but <Sim> doesn't know how to do so in a creative way. Should <Sim> write a story so that aliens take the wife away while looking at the stars, or something else?
Civ 3 is on steam sale for dirt cheap. Any opinions on how it holds up? I last played the vanilla game well over a decade ago and can't remember anything from it besides having no idea how to play.
Some of the chance cards are pretty stupid. Though this one (for level 9 of the Science Career) always elicited a chuckle from me:

Tim brings up a good point about scenarios...
The defaults are pretty good, but definitely look into @Plotinus'! His Africa scenario is the bee's knees.
Didn't expect the guy to take a rejected flirt that hard.
My first attempt at modding the Sims 2 was a success!
Well, that depends on your definition of 'success.' If you're making a mod that lets Sims autonomously order a pizza when they're hungry, having them constantly order pizzas when their hunger bar is only slightly yellow might not be the intended effect. Having them ignore the freshly-delivered pizzas and continue ordering them until their money is completely depleted is really not the intended effect. Having them continue to try to order pizzas with no money--well, you get the idea.
But hey, at least it works. Sort of.

Played about an hour of Civ3 and already I'm seeing how much work Firaxis has put into making mindless REXing not the best strategy.
And I appreciate that.
