What videogames have you been playing? version 1.22: What's with that plural?

My only concern was the wolf that's inside the prison yard when you first arrive. If he respawns, then the prison isn't safe (because the gate there can't be shut). But the two wolves out in the wooded area have respawned and the one inside the yard hasn't, so maybe that one wolf never respawns once you deal with him the first time. The lack of a bed might also be more annoying long term, and of course the workshop is only useful if you're making ammo or working your Gunsmithing skill. Once you're done with that, I think a lot of other spots would be better places to settle down and pass some time. I think I'm about finished exploring this map, so I'm probably going to head back to Timberwolf Mountain once I've got my Gunsmithing to level 5. I know there's at least one hidden cache, but I don't feel like dealing with timberwolves during the Aurora.

Just fyi, there's currently a bug, where if you sleep in a car during a blizzard (or, by some accounts, in any outdoor location, even one that's protected from the elements), your outer layer of clothing will get soaked and then frozen. In my case, it happened while I was sleeping in the truck across the road from the Jailer's Residence; not only was I in a protected location, I had a fire burning in the barrel beside the truck all night. So the temp inside the truck never dropped below freezing. The devs have acknowledged that this is a bug and they're working on it.

I then found that my clothing wouldn't thaw and dry while I was wearing it, regardless of how long I stood beside a fire. I had to take the clothes off and set them on the ground beside the fire to dry them out. Some people think this is a deliberate change, that you're supposed to have to remove your clothes to dry them out. I wouldn't be averse to this change, actually. It's a little more realistic, and might encourage/reward keeping spare clothes around.
I always try to stockpile clothes. Cloth/leather is just too useful be thrown out. Snow shelters have saved me so many times. I once survived a storm that caught me during a trip across Forlorn Muskeg, a thousand curses upon it, by stripping naked and making a snow shelter out of my clothes and sticks lying around, in order to survive until morning.

Yeah, that's why I keep clothes around too. Especially on the maps that don't have a lot of buildings, where you can always tear up curtains and towels and whatnot.

Nba 2k23
Basketball basically and running with friends for wins is good. There's good rewards that you can get like mascots and better improvements to your build.

Age of empires 4
Completing the necessary requirements for rewards is entertaining. Today I got the 1st Mali 1000xp reward that got me up to level 78.

Civilization 6
I've been struggling on Emperor difficulty. I put up the difficulty level to get a challenge but it's too challenging. I end up losing. Like last time the ai got a cultural victory on me.

Age of empires definitive edition
I thought it was over because Age of empires rise of Rome came out in Age of empires 2 but people still login to play often. I got to play today again and even though my ranking is around 1200 I got to do some cav rush with Yamato and got good damage on. Even though I ran out of gold I still has help from the allies while getting attacked by Phoenician elephants. We got disconnected but I didn't rank down much.

Call of duty: modern warfare 2
This game has so many guns that can be ranked up. Opportunities to rank up daily are there I just can't always take them sin e I'm usually busy. A good fps always fun..

The Long Dark: Tales From the Far Territory

Custom Settings: Basically, I'm aiming for something like Interloper, but with hatchets, knives, firearms, and bunkers. Here's a page describing custom settings in detail. I can post the code later if anyone wants to see or try out my specific settings. Technically, you can start a Custom game on a map of your choosing and with 5 Feats, but I chose to start on a random map and with only 2 Feats - Cold Fusion & Efficient Machine - to mimic the Interloper experience.

Ash Canyon, 12F/-11C, a couple of hours before dusk. I spawned at the cave in the narrow crevice on the canyon floor. I had to sneak past 2 packs of wolves to get to Angler's Den before dark. I did get into a fight with one wolf, but I got lucky and fought him off with my bare fists before he hurt me too much. I made it to the Angler's Den with just enough daylight remaining to find the matches, and then I got that crucial first fire going on my first match. I left the cabin the next morning without any good clothing and at half Health, but with water and torches, a knife and 11 matches. Emboldened by my good fortune so far, I decided to be a dude and hike up out of the canyon instead of heading for Pleasant Valley like a normal person. I stopped at Miner's Folly and Foreman's Retreat for some stuff, and to spend the night in a bed, then went for the mine. I underestimated the cold and the distance a little bit, and by the time I reached the mine entrance I was at a sliver of Health. Good enough, though. Tons of coal in the mine, and in another stroke of good luck, I'd found four books of cardboard matches along the way. I almost wondered if that was some kind of bug or if I'd messed up the Custom settings. I had enough food and was able to sleep on the mattress inside the mine, and exited the back way with about half health, an armload of coal, a hatchet and a lantern. Still no bedroll, which was concerning, but other than that, I was feeling pretty good about myself. Then I f'd it all up. Upon getting back down to the valley floor, I made a critical error: Instead of heading for Angler's Den and leaving the next morning by way of the lower exit, I followed the upper trail and went out through the cave exit. I forgot just how long that journey is. Even at half Health and without enough clothing, I could still have made the trek to the Mountaineer's Cabin if I'd had a bedroll. But with no bedroll on top of everything else, it was just too far and I died on Timberwolf Mountain, of a combination of hunger, exposure, and exhaustion.

Transfer Pass, -10F/-23C, just past Midnight. Well, [crap]. I intended to begin the game somewhere on Lower Great Bear, so I must've pressed the wrong button. I would have been in trouble even if it'd been early in the day. It wasn't even one of those clear nights where you can actually see pretty well. I was standing right at the entrance to Far Range Branch Line, and I don't remember either of those maps well enough to navigate them blind, but (a) I was standing right on the tracks, and (b) I did know that the tracks led to the Vacant Depot in one direction and to a potential wolf spawn in the other direction. So I just started sprinting towards the depot. I made it to there with a sliver of Health remaining and no frostbite. I managed to find the door, but it was pitch-black inside and still only 18F/-8C, which wasn't warm enough in my state. I fumbled around inside the depot on the chance I randomly found some clothing or matches, but I didn't. I got hypothermia and died before morning.

Coastal Highway, 20F/-7C, a couple of hours before dusk. I spawned up in the hills, around the middle of the map. I had to wait for a bear to mosey on by, but other than that, I made my way down to Coastal Townsite without incident and got inside a house just as my Warmth meter hit zero. Pretty close to a dream start. Plenty of water and plenty of beds, and all of these houses are warm enough, even with no good clothing. I noticed that a lot of the houses are still standing, so among the "hidden" Custom Settings I chose must be Stalker-level damage to structures. At Interloper, many more of the buildings here are wrecks. By the end of Day 2, I'd finished looting Coastal Townsite, except for the locked lockers and car trunks. I've got a hacksaw, a bedroll, 1 box of matches, a Mariner's Peacoat, a pair of wool socks, and a pair of wool longjohns. I'm wearing sneakers and bluejeans that are nearly useless, and I was forced to sew some makeshift mittens and a hat out of curtains and towels. I've got lots of water and enough food for a couple more days, but no tools beyond the hacksaw. So far, so not bad. I think I can afford to loiter around here and search all of the structures before deciding where to go next. That will pretty much depend on whether I find a forge hammer. If I find one here, I'll go into the mines for some coal and set some saplings to dry in the garage, then head for Desolation Point. If I don't, Pleasant Valley.

I've been away from my computer the last few weeks (dog/house/bird/cat sitting for multiple clients) so I haven't been able to play any of my normal stuff. I have been playing Stardew Valley on my chromebook, but not in my usual savefile. I had to start a new one on the chromebook. Mobile controls and no mouse are a little frustrating, but I'm getting somewhat used to them and am halfway through spring. Things are more productive than in my main savefile: I'm already at level 30 in the mines halfway through my first spring, and I intend to start the summer with improved sprinklers already ready. This farm is easier than my original, because it's the default farm and not the Riverview farm I chose for my first game. I saw "River" and said "That's good", not realizing it basically breaks the player's farm up into a bunch of little islands. Once I get back to my computer, I'm going to take a few days to put my original/main farmer's house in order. Most of the property is overgrown (I kept sowing tree seeds to get more lumber) and my original system for storing stuff (with a seeds chest, a fruit-to-preserve chest, a geology chest, a gifts chest, and a catchall chest) has really been disintegrating. (One good thing: I realized I could stick a chest near the chicken coop and use it to store hay, instead of storing hay in another chest and trucking it over every morning. I want to improve the house and build a barn & stable in year 2.

Organization, unfortunately, never gets easier/cleaner. You can use signs to label what a chest contains, but beyond that... you're roughing it.

I like colour coding my chests, but I still get confused. Animals are really good investments, but I hope you‘re not just selling the eggs you get.

If you don’t mind a hint… chickens will eat tall, green grass; that saves you on time for harvesting hay or gold for buying hay from Marnie.

Using location as a trigger has been helpful for me -- so the fruit chest is right next to the preserves bins, the geology chest is near my furnaces, the seed/fertilizer chest is near the fields, that sort of thing. The funny thing is that all of these chests were accidentally made when I was trying to make my first one and didn't realize I needed to stick it in an item slot. I kept clicking Chest and wound up with six or so of them.

I have a mayonnaise machine. I need two (receiving 4 eggs a day), but I keep forgetting to go back to earlier levels in the mines for earth crystals. Thanks for the tip on grass, but I'd planted my coop in an overgrown area and figured that out on accident. The hay from Marnie is to get me through the winter, but this year I'm going to be more aggressive about sowing wheat just to make hay with.

That's another gaming thing that the entire industry can't seem to figure out.

That's what I've ended up doing in every single game I've ever played, I think. In the games where you can arrange those chests or bins however you want, you almost always have to empty them out to move them. In The Long Dark, you can neither make new storage containers nor move the ones that are already in the world, so the number and arrangement of containers becomes a big factor in deciding whether to adopt a particular location as a homebase.

I have a mayonnaise machine.

Back on my PC, and with 3x internet speed. Dropped one ISP for another since ATT kept dragging its feet about repairs. Very pleased so far. Loaded up Stardew Valley in my primary save, and things are looking good. I was able to get strawberry seeds and spent $5000 buying all I could, since I understand they're very lucrative. Steadily filling bundles at the community center, and I think I unlocked the greenhouse but I haven't explored that just yet. Winter is a long way away.

About halfway into year 2 of Stardew Valley, and feeling good. I was able to complete two rooms of the community center in the spring, as well as getting to the bottom level of the mines and establishing a cow population in Peacefield Ranch. I'm a third of the way through summer, waiting for melons and blueberries, and harvesting flowery honey, maple syrup, oak and pine restin, milk, and mayonnaise by the day. Next immediate goal is to get a silo and see about expanding my animal population, as well as attacking one of the islands (I did a Riverview farm not realizing that it meant) and clearing up space for another big cash crop field. I've already got some improved sprinklers ready. I also gave a bouqet to Penny and Abigail, and will probably give one to Leah & Penny as well to see how thins go. Did the Flower Dance for the first time and chose Penny, since she said she was nervous. That's what led to me giving her a bouquet. I think Penny is the most appropriate match for my farmer, but we'll see. I'm also blitzing Haley with sunflowers just in case.

I have a Football Manager 2023 save going in which I created a brand new semi-pro team from scratch w/ only 4-5 players and no staff, and inserted it in the 6th tier of English football. Then I hired everyone and tried to not get relegated, and slowly but surely over time got promoted 4 times over the course of 15 seasons. I focus on signing promising younger players I have been developing into talent I can occasionally sell to help w/ the club's finances. We started off as a semi-pro/amateur outfit w/ a 4,000 seater stadium (plus room for 2,000 to stand) and finally earlier this season were able to complete construction of our new amazing 10,000 seater stadium. Yeah, that's not that amazing, but for us it was a big deal.

I just finished my 15th season and am now in the Championship, which is the 2nd division. My club is still very poor; we have basically been in this division for 4 seasons and still have the lowest payroll in the league by far. This season we were spending ₤78,000 a week on player wages. The second cheapest team in the league was spending almost double that. The richest team in the league was spending about 20 times as much as we were on player wages. The problem is in part that our tiny stadium wasn't producing much income. This has now improved.. but we are still a puny club that everybody expects to get relegated every season. We don't get the flashy sponsorship deals and we don't sell as many jerseys. This forces me to look for younger players who I can develop into players who can help me get eventually promoted to the Premier League.. The problem with that is that if they are actually that good, they will eventually ask for contracts I can't afford or right out say that they want to play in a higher league or go to a richer team.. So the last 4 seasons at least, it has been tough to balance all that, all while ensuring that we don't get relegated. Out of those 4 seasons, 2 were very close calls (almost got relegated) and the first and the season I just finished saw me finish midtable. My current goal is to basically become an "established midtable" team that can then have a good run of form one season and get promoted. Then I can worry not getting relegated from the Premier League later..

These are usually the dynamics when you get promoted, you then have to deal with not getting relegated.. but in the lower divisions it was a bit easier. I struggled a bit not getting relegated from the Championship, I had to be vigilant @ keeping the lockerroom atmosphere positive (it impacts player performance bigtime), keeping players happy, selling players who wanted to leave, etc.. in the end it looks like I'm going to morph into a respectable 2nd division team.. Now with the offseason coming I am already planning who I am going to sell and what kind of players I need to buy. The board has just told me that they will double the amount I can spend on player wages. Perhaps a new sponsorship is brewing behind the scenes? Or a new investor has come on board? Either way, it's not that huge of a deal, since I am still probably the last or second last in the league in term of player spendings.. even after the doubling of my player wage budget.. but it does help since I can now give players beefier contracts and keep them around longer.

I have been playing this save under the following rules:

- No save/scumming after any match. If you play through a match and lose it or tie and get relegated or lose a cup final or whatever.. no matter what, I never reload in this situation
- Reloading after a failed lockerroom meeting w/ the players or a chat with any of the players one-on-one is A-OK

My club currently has ₤24,812,167 in the bank - Most of this came from me selling our best players, over time.. usually because otherwise they'd freak and throw my lockerroom balance out of whack.. sometimes because the board intervened and sold the player on my behalf due to an especially high offer.. sometimes because I made a strategic decision to cash in on a player at that particular time. sometimes because a player had a poor personality/attitude. It's only the last 4 seasons or so I've been able to sell players for millions, for the 10 seasons before that I have been basically running the club by the scruff of the neck. That's probably the wrong expression, but either way I am finally in a position where things feel a bit more stable. There was a ₤14M loan involved w/ the construction of the new stadium, but the growing bank balance means I don't have to worry about the monthly payments. I hope to expand the stadium or build a new one.. but.. I don't think they will let me build a new one for a while.. so hopefully I can get this one expanded, once the demand builds up.. Right now we are seeing about 92% attendance a game on average.. I need to ramp that up to 100% and once it's selling out consistently I will then ask the board to upgrade the stadium..

It's a real fun save and it's been going for a couple irl years now. I can't remember exactly when I started it. My goal is to end up in the Premier League and somehow dominate it too, then become the best team in Europe, and in the world. After that I will quit my job and try to get hired as coach of Poland or Canada. We'll see where this goes, it's very possible I get fired at some point too.. You never know what the expectations of a new board might be..

Pottering on with pYanodons. For a 500+ hour long mod on an already complex game, it's weirdly relaxing. Maybe its because there's such an overwhelming amount of stuff to do, there's no option but to do small bits at a time your own pace.

I've got the second science going for a while now, and am working though it. Lots of upgrades to my metal production, particularly iron where I'm at a recipe that can almost be described as efficient, which is good as my starting resources patches are mostly gone. Started preparing for trains - production of rail is slow, but I'm leaving it chugging away, and engines are a bit ad-hoc as I need fish oil to lubricate the gearboxes but don't have fish farming yet, so I'm having to go fishing. Next big step is getting Auogs going to provide enough manure for my ammonia based chemical needs, but there's a fair few inputs to that process to consider.

I think the last time I played FM was the 2010 or 2012 edition. It was a little overwhelming.

I used to play a lot of FM. From 07-13 I had 200+ hours in each. But since then I found myself playing less and less each year until I stopped with 17 or 18 (I forget which off the top of my head).

I think most FM players put a lot of time into one or two saves within each year, so by the time a new version comes round, they're ready for a restart.

You can't transfer saves between releases - though I've read they're finally going to be changing that in the next version or two. Though you won't get a roster update in the save if you do - that wouldn't make sense - just the new engine / features etc.

One has to wonder if a game which updates each year, has save longevity. Even if saves from previous versions can be kept, the rosters would change.

The baseball version of FM - Out of the Park - lets you play from any start date, going back to the 19th Century. I'm not sure football/soccer fans are as into the history of their game as baseball fans are. Baseball has also long been a sport obsessed with detailed record-keeping and statistics, so recreating team rosters and players would be easier than the sports that don't do that, or have only recently started doing that*. As with FM, OOTP is a daunting game. I played the 1987 Boston Red Sox for a bit, and relied almost entirely on my memory of players from the late '80s and early '90s. I never fully figured out OOTP's player evaluations and game engine. In Football Manager, where I was much less familiar with the clubs and players, I was really just flying by the seat of my pants. (I actually thought playing FM might deepen my knowledge of the real clubs and players, but it didn't.)

* I also watch the occasional rugby match, and they're just terrible about that. Half the time I can't even find players' heights, weights, and ages. Coming from a sport like baseball, where you can practically relive every pitch ever thrown if you wanted to, the lack of record-keeping & analysis in some other sports is surprising.

At least when I played FM, there were always some fan made mods for particularly interesting past seasons to start in, though I don't ever remember a complete historical database like OOTP has.
