Humans aren't a source of energy in any case. You have to feed them something, and it'd be more efficient to take the fuel that you feed the humans and just extract the energy out of it directly.
Besides, what are the machines using so much energy for anyway?
I guess you're right about the energy thing but just pretend that they have to use humans for energy...for some unknown reason. Then you can happily enjoy the rest of the film.

*sigh* Truly, I wish I could get by that, but it is difficult for me to enjoy a movie that has such a major plot contrivance in it. It's like the movie "Red Tide" (I think that's what its named, Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington star in it) about a ballistic missile sub that gets half a nuclear launch order but they can't tell whether it's a drill. Except that it isn't possible to get half a launch order. If the whole message isn't receipted for, it doesn't show up. So the whole movie I'm hollering at Hackman & co that their radioman is playing a trick on them.
Ah well, I chalk it up as a personal failing and try to live my life despite the burden...
Igloodude-It's Crimson Tide. Anyway, that movie is pretty realistic. Not in the same league as U-571, Pearl Harbor or to a lesser extent, Saving Private Ryan.
