What We Know About Brave New World

Probably, but its not written in the first post.

I thought this thread is for listing things up, regardless of how many of us know it already.

+1

opening post should be primary source of knowledge.

Firstlook magazine's preview and interview with Dennis Shirk (http://issuu.com/gamerzines/docs/firstlook_4/33) has some info we haven't seen before:

World Congress resolutions cannot be denied: "In our game sanctions have to be followed no matter what - they become die-hard game rules. We toyed around with letting people ignore them and making people angry, but that created a lot of problems. Why would you want to play with the UN if other players have the option to ignore their decrees?"

The civ with the most culture gets to propose the second resolution (the host gets to propose the first): "At this congress of all nations the faction with the highest cultural rating and the host nation get to vote on new game-changing policies, with every faction able to vote on resolutions."

They claim Shakespeare produces "The Tragedy of Hamlet" as a great work, so perhaps we will see multiple great works from certain artists.

Edit: thanks to Snipperrabbit!! for referencing the article.

That or it is highly flawed.

1. We've already beent old that the nation with second most delegates is the second nation to propose

2. It's unlikely that artists have multiple works, we've seen Whistler both create the same painting. And we already know Macbeth is Shakespeare's Great Work.

I can't remember where that was confirmed, do you recall? In any case, perhaps culture determines which civ is chosen if there's a tie (for instance, at the first session, when every civ but the host only has one delegate).

we've seen Whistler both create the same painting.

I have no idea what you're trying to say with this statement, can you clarify?

It doesn't really matter to me whether artists can create more than one work, but it makes sense given some artists like Shakespeare really did create multiple GWs.:)

James Abbott McNeill Whistler <- why should certain artists get more than 1 painting, I think they are sticking to single artist single work, so not to clog up the files (let's be honest, these things are gonna take a bit of space). Both demos that he was in he created the exact same piece of work.

I tend to agree, though I could see them possibly putting in multiple quotes from Great Writers - a quote wouldn't take up much space at all.

Another oddity: the article mentions that the expansion will include The Scramble for Africa and American Revolution scenarios, not the Civil War. Likely a mistake but Firaxis HAS said that they could end up with more than just the two scenarios in the expansion...

And Dennis Shirk specifically stated that there are only two scenarios. I think that article is just weak on accuracy.

a couple of small things about the WC added

This image was posted on Facebook. While I don't recognise the subject of the painting the style seems reminiscent of the concept art for the various leaders. A subtle reveal of a new Civ perhaps?

It's a selfie by Rembrandt.

According to this link:
http://steamcommunity.com/id/mouseypounds/stats/CivV?xml=1

The "win as Civ" achievements are in alphabetical order, as such:

Assyria
Brazil
NEW CIV
NEW CIV
Poland
Portugal
NEW CIV
NEW CIV
Zulu

Belgium, Boers, Ottomans, England, Italy confirmed for Africa scenario. Belgium is alphabetically eliminated from being a new Civ, but Italy could still make it.

One achievement in the Civil War scenario wants a Confederate Infantry to take Gettysburg with the "George Pickett" promotion. So it looks like Civil War officers will be promotions in that scenario.

Broadcast Towers also have Great Work slots. Not sure if that's been mentioned.

So victory conditions per ideology are:
Autocracy: Cultural, Diplomatic, Domination
Freedom: Cultural, Diplomatic, Space
Order: Cultural, Domination, Space

This looked very strange to me at first as well. But turns out it is a caravan unit riding camels on what appears to be some large Oxen or Elks with big white horns (Deer?).
Well actually I was talking about the soldiers in the forest just north of the trading unit. Since the picture disappeared so fast I couldn't see what it was. Looked a bit like some new tile improvement like a fort or something. BTW: Is that a musketman or what is it?
