What Would Gandhi Do? - AI Rebalancing Mod

Well, I downloaded this mainly just for the AI happiness thing, but when I play the game, in the beginning I still have significantly lower happiness than all the other Civs. It says V5 got rid of it, while the post below it says that there are still happiness bonuses. I assumed it was just an outdated problem? Can someone help explain why they still have higher happiness levels?
Another thing I have noticed is that they have very large building bonuses, and it doesn't even give me a fighting chance in building wonders. They also seem to have large bonus in Science also, as when I had only two Science Techs, the other Civ I was playing against had 4. Is this part of WWGD? As also, I installed Procylon's Call to Power Project at the same time.

I really like all the other bonuses that come with this, but I'm not sure, it just seems to give the AI's a much bigger bonus than before. I play on Prince, I could try to play on an easier level, but still.

As far as I know, on Prince the AI isn't getting any bonuses. I don't know if playing with Call to Power is affecting this, though.

In vanilla I played at beat Deity easily, so one thing I am hoping to accomplish with this mod is making Deity and Immortal especially a harder but rewarding challenge. As you play the game, feedback on any ideas or changes will be greatly appreciated.

Just curious - why is Immortal harder now than it was before?

I just finished another Immortal game as Arabia. I built 4 cities in a corner and aimed for a diplomatic victory. I won in 1690 (t.248), which may be just early enough to miss the second stage of AI aggressiveness. I bring this up because I built a grand total of one archer. (My warrior and scout were killed by barbs). I had no close neighbors, and no one became hostile at my size. The Inca were massing an army against me around 500 BC, but I paid the Mongols to attack them, and was friendly with the Inca from then on. England sealed off the Ottomans from me, and had enough room to expand that she didn't come after me (although she was only neutral for most of the game). I later paid the Mongols and Inca to attack her, and keep her focus elsewhere.

All of this felt right enough to me, but wanted to report it, given my extreme approach.

Hmm, well the AI seems a lot more aggressive against each other at the very least compared to past versions. Frankly, I like that peaceful diplomacy can result in having a smaller army (at the risk of unexpected wars). I never really was a fan that the AI used to automatically decide it was time to be a conqueror if a neighbor was weak.

Yes. The AI has fought steadily in all my games. They would have fought me in this one. And (based on a small sampling) they seem to always go for the throat if they start close and you're (automatically) weak. So far, so good - I can't say enough about how much I enjoy v5 of this mod.

Hi!

I am having a game with version v5 plus Play With Me and City State Diplomacy.

Setting: tiny pangaea, king level, 7 civs, 7 CSs, I am Germany

AI diplo feels very, very nice!

I didn't have good start, and throughout the game (now we're in late industrial/early modern age)
I have been in the middle in score and power.
My neighbour Russia is a big, now a leader, and far away on the map USA and Rome is also big ones.

I became friends with Russia, and USA.

In around the 18th c. big things happened in diplo:
Russia began to be real aggressive, conquering CSs, had a war vs. England - and became leader.
All AIs ganged up vs. Russia, who is now having BIG WAR vs the world.
England lured me into joined war vs. my other neigbour, the smaller Iroqouis,
and now I slowly conquer land with the help of my one CS ally next to Hiawatha's border...

Russia NUKED England in the 1970s (! - remember, this is King level !), and did it with more nukes in one turn! Uhh...

It is an exciting game, it will be seen if USA and Rome can hold Russia...
while I am the only friend of Cathy, trying to sneak past all things and go for Spaceship...

I dumped the policy flavor changes and there was a few small changes to the DiploDiscuss lua file I overwrite, so I needed to update that. Mostly just aesthetic changes. I won't mess with the new AI diplo XML values until I get more playtime in.

i played last night with the files that thal included in his mod (not sure if it was everythign but i thought it was) and i was getting DoF from a ton of civs, including the one that was literally right on my border in two spots within 50 turns.

Playing v5 with the new patch, I also had a good number of DoF's, but it didn't strike me as "wrong." Even better, my big neighbor Washington steadily soured, due to competing for the same CS, and eventually coveting my lands. 5 turns from researching Rocketry en route to a Science victory, he DoW'd and nuked me. I had only just started to build a modern army, and deservedly got walloped for being so cavalier.

i didn't get far as i didn't have a lot of time so if others are finding it a correct amount then im ok with it :)

Sneaks, I'm trying to download v6 from CFC. I click the download, then am asked if Firefox should open it with the FreeTextPad Module. I say OK, and get a blank FTP screen. Any advice?

And out of curiosity, why does the system respond differently when I download TBC?

Try the link in post #249

The Database one works fine for me. Clicked it, went to the database page. Clicked the download link, and presto.

I found it (and the ones I had been trying to download) in the Downloads folder. I still had the same issue - now what? - but I copied the v6 file and pasted it over the v5 file in the Mods folder. So still PC illiterate, but functioning!

Thanks a lot.

just wondering if the AI's navy recieved an update with this mod? im pretty bored of em just suiciding units with no naval protection or sending 1 ship and stuff

and how do i install it now its not in the mod thing ingame? i put it in mygames/civ5/mods but i cant see it under mods

I altered several numbers that should encourage the AI to attack with larger forces and produce more soldiers where at war. That is more or less the limitation of what we can do with mods right now.

As for installation, once you move the file to the MODS folder, when you go into your game, there should be an Install Mods button in the lower right hand corner of the Installed tab in the Mods menu. Once you click that, it should appear on your list.
