So i was wondering what the CFC community thought about this scenario.

What would happen if the war in the middle east was being fought in a game of civ? How many SOD's would each side have? Would there be any great generals? What units would each side have? What promotions would be available and how promoted would the units be?

Cheezy the Wiz said:
The US would either raze the Iraqi and Afghan cities and resettle them, or just pile enough units into each city to quell the resistance then rush-build temples and cathedrals and janx.

Haven't they already done that?

ok let me pose you this, what tactics would be used and what promotions would fit to those tactics

I'd say they've got like five units in a city with six or seven Resistance. Its slowly trickling down.

Who knows, tactics are not a part of Civilization games.

I would be able to try out different tactics (nuking Mecca, just razing cities, trying to keep hold of them by starving the citizens to reduce flip chance...) and use the autosaves to try each one.

Well.. First you'd see a stack of death arrive in the persian gulf with like 9 aircraft carriers, 30 transports, 12 battleships, 10 destroyers, 5 submarines, 20 tanks, 40 infantry, 10 anti-air, 20 gunships, and 10 Christian missionaries (psst just kidding about that one)

The SOD would make landfall, capture all the cities, but then somehow the culture wouldn't change to American, the player would get annoyed, and quit the game.

Civ doesn't have a sufficient insurgency/resistance mechanism to replicate the Middle East conflict.

I bet it would be like a pre-3.19 game. We would go in and take over all the cities so then "The Middle Eastern Empire has been destroyed!" But because the upkeep would be too costly, we would liberate a couple cities only to find that they are all -- you guessed it -- the MIDDLE EASTERN EMPIRE! "We yearn to join our motherland!" revolts ensue...

if you had the revolutions mod enabled, you might be able to accurately replicate the whole revolt issue

You gotta love the Revolutions mod

There's a good chance Mecca would be razed by the U.S. at some point. Loosing diplo points with some countries that are mostly already mad at us is a lot better than massive rebellions in every city.

except in razing mecca we would probably get nuked by pakistan and maybe even israel and when and if iran gets nukes they would hit us for sure so all of the middle east would be a bunch of size 3 cities and fallout

The American player would be regarded as stupid for not trying to take uncorrupt regions loaded with resources close to home (Canada).

They're already our vassals, so we can't declare war on them.:mischief:

The Palestinian pikemen would occasionally defeat the Israeli tanks.
