If it works for you it works for you! I work 37.5 hours each week, no more no less. If I put in 5 hours extra one week due to a project launch or whatever, I work 5 hours less the next week. Working 60 hours a week sounds like a nightmare to me, but that's me and what I'm used to

Yep and I think different lines of work have very different tolerable durations as well. I said I worked 60 hours a week, but in reality I stay at the workplace(s) 60 hours a week. That doesn't mean I'm actually working that whole time - far from it.

I've done it during product launches and stuff, or business trips. It's not fun, I'm only good for about a month of it before I start to give zero poops about my work quality and become a drone.

I've done it for launches, but then I always get all my time back. So I can't overdo it either, because my boss doesn't like me having too much time in the bank and prefers I use it all up asap
Last week: 60 hours. 40 hours for the job I get paid for, and another 20h at the weekend for finishing my PhD.
And that'll continue like this for probably another 3-4 months :/.
Given my current wage, the 37.5h I work is about right - I don't need nor want to work more, but can't really afford to work significantly less (+/- a few hours is fine). I would quite like to switch to 4 longer days (say 9h each) and get a three day weekend though.
If money wasn't an issue, I'd probably look to at doing around 20 hours a week, as I do like both my job and the people I work with.
No work would be too stressful. I have no desire to spend 24/7 with a 3 and 1 year old; that is best left to the professionals. Since I need units of work so that someone else gets compensated for their units of work, there you have it.
Don't get me wrong, I love my children, but it is in all of our best interests that we not be around each other all the time, though an extra hour or 2 each day might be nice.
Depends on the job. Some jobs, the atmosphere and people on it are so great I feel like I'm hardly working and the end product is something people really appreciate. Other jobs are just suffering engines. I'd settle for six hours either way. I spend 2 hours dazed anyway out of the 8.
