What? You expected something well though out?

A Milanese sky privateer flying Spoletan colours was brought down by Jewish-sponsored sky pirates. Milan, clearly not understanding the implications of a false flag operation, declared war on the Judean Empire (though not, for whatever reason, on Venice).

The Turkhan's Uyghur invasion force was met by a flotilla of Uyghur skyships, and only survived due to timely sabotage of the Uyghur fleet committed for unrelated reasons (the son of the Uyghur leader had impregnated some important figure's daughter or other).

"Basketball" invented in Japanese Inch'on, begins competing for primacy with another newly-invented sport, Bo-Taoshi. (Google it. You will not be disappointed.)

California rigs up forty-five percent of its ammunition stores in one big boom. By a bit of good luck an entire Mormon army is obliterated when it goes off.

Bo-Taoshi spreads to, is adopted as national sport in, Siam.

After discovering the mysteriously fossilized remains of Pegasus, a Kazakh nationalist scientist living in Pointless Small Village, JRE, clones said fossilized mythological flying horse. He then founds a new religion, which is basically just Islam but Allah is a talking kebab on fire, and rebels against his acronymical overloards.

Recon reports from the Venetian military reveal that the natives of Pacifaeus are armed with early gunpower weapons, including something resembling ancient chinese fireworks. They make decent anti-airship weapons.

Using both foreign weapons and soldiers bought with promises of power a charismatic Zulu chieftain has managed to conquer much of OTL South Africa and has formed the Seningizimu Kingdom. He now seeks to industrialize this new nation and cement his power.

Venice mobilises its skyfleets for war with Persia, Fiume, and Spoleto, as Persia does the same. The two skyfleets clash at the Battle of Otok Cres, off the coast of Fiume. The larger Venetian fleet devastates the Persians, forcing their withdrawal.

Fiume is firebombed by the Venetian skyships.

Nwabudike Morgan, an African industrialist who has taken to wearing his framed Morgan Freeman as a mask, offers his support to the Seningizmu Kingdom. Someone gets mud on him, though, and he retreats north to Mozambique, taking over the city-state of Sofala.

The Shah, pillaging Karachi mercilessly on his way home from Hyderabad (which was largely empty, the independence movement having relocated somewhere independent), uses his newfound gold to buy the Trebizond Caliph's military out from under him. These new forces sail straight through the Venetian fleet, taking heavy losses but firebombing Venice ruthlessly. Most of the city is spared (the fleet suffered heavy losses, remember?) but its shipyards are gone. Kaput.

Milan's war with Judea is utterly unrelated to that of the Shah, having lost a privateer to Jewish-funded Sky Pirates. And it's SALISH Coast peoples.

Mormon attempts to develop a bicycle version of Bo-Taoshi fail miserably.

The Greater British Empire offers the Seningizimu Kingdom advisors and token technology in exchange for 30 years of very advantageous resource extraction rights. The Venetian diplomat promises that they can offer a much better deal, if only the Seningizimu would wait.

An amazon-borne disease/contagion/what have you known as The Phage, reminiscent of the bubonic plague, ravages across northern Brazil and Amazonia. Brazillian ports are closed to outsiders, the pathogen is so vile.

Edit: By winter, you mean late in the year, or early in the year? Also, which hemisphere?

6 of the 7 popes die of the Phage. The last pope declares himself the rightful pope, then dies of malaria.

Which city? Genoa? Milan?

With the campaign season over, the scheming season begins. Bologna, ruled by the de Medicis, is taken in a coup by the de Ferraria's, giving control of the city back to Venetian allies.

The Vukovics of Belgrade manage to execute a coup in Split, turning the city over to their rule.

The Venetian expedition into Pacifica firebombs a few natives from the skies and returns to Indonesia, claiming a great victory and revenge for the destruction of their skyship.

OOC: Remember, dynasties guys. So its less a war of Venice v. Persia and Spoleto, its de Ferrarias v. Persia, and whatever dynasty rules Spoleto

With the possible gains of conquering Pacifaeus less than the potential losses from losing its other wars at the moment, Venice is forced to withdraw from the island. This invasion leaves a mark on the Pacifaeus natives, and they have begun sending out boats to explore the world they previously ignored, so they can be prepared for any future wars.
