LOL I've heard great and grand stories OF Civman. haven't heard FROM him though.

BTW, all jokes aside, I think it would be extremely remiss of us to leave Jar Jar out, considering that he gave the Palpatine his chance to become Emperor.

Do a quick sign up to mediafire.com if it's larger than you can attach in a post.

Clone Wars and Jedi Civil War have the most balanced sides of the options here. I think the general idea was to make scenarios to work forward making a full mod. Another idea civilizationwise was to make the 4-5 civs seen in the movies first: Galactic Republic, CIS, Empire, Rebel Alliance, maybe Hutts. Also, I personally think we should concentrate on the space side of things first. Probably simpler.

Actually my thoughts were that the land side would be easier as, although there would be quite a few new concepts and coding for it, alot of it could be borrowed and built upon from other mods.

Agreed. We have a lot of art for land units already.

Maybe we could make the scenarios individual battles if that'd make it easier. So do 3 or 4 similar "Clone Wars" scenarios set on different worlds.

OK, but how are we going to eventually do space units then? I don't want to exclude them from the mod.

Well yeah, land battles as scenarios are a good place to start. I believe Naboo would be excellent start for that and then move on to other famous movie battles. Well developed space side will be necessary for full game for true feel, though. Meshing space and planets is an interesting problem and while people seemed to have some ideas, I never quite understood what these ideas were.

Well. Here's one way to do it. In Civilization II: Test of Time, there were two mods that had 'levels'. In the Fantasy mod, there was 4. In the Science Fiction mod, there were 2. These two were space and the planet surface.
So, ya could do somethin similar. Make it so space and planets are two separate levels. Then, on a planet, you can never leave the planet w/o spacecraft.
Jus an idea. Idk. I could elaborate if you wish.

That would work well for one planet, but the galaxy is filled with dozens of planets (I'm guessing hundreds would be to much :)) How would we make inter-planetary space?

The basic workable but fairly lame idea would be to make space "the ocean" and planets "the islands."

Yes, but that's a little boring. We could do it in the early parts, but I suggest we move to to a better one later, like what rocklikeafool was thinking. BTW I don't mean to sound like I'm critizizing everyone, I'm just trying to find a good solution to our "galactic problem".

mmm. We need to get something done though, before we attract the coders experienced enough to code that sort of thing (unless i'm not giving someone their due credit?)

Well, I think the idea is to use the WoC as far as possible, and we have some pretty awesome coders.

That works. I'll go through my sources and look for some other possible all-land scenarios too
