Whats the deal with Bono and those stupid glasses?

I think he's trying to be the next Bob Geldor. A Bob Geldorf from the planet Neutron.

He must be from planet K-PAX!

In Bob Dylan's book, he says that if Bono had been born at the right time, it would have been in the 19th century, and he'd be a 1st generation immigrant policeman.

While I agree, I would also say that Dylan is a fraud too!
Old WrinkleBob Hippypants should go back to Haught Ashbury and lie in the gutter!

He seems to have the utmost respect for the ideals upon which America was founded. This is such a rarity in show business, I can't help but respect the guy.

Seeing how he is Irish, doesn't this strike you as Bono merely bootlicking?
;)

U2 music is pretty much average to me (they've had a couple good hits, and nothing really hideous comes to mind), but from what I've heard Bono is not your average politically-active celebrity. He actually educates himself on the various issues surrounding the plight of the third world and involves himself in it, which is more than I can say for the likes of... pretty much anyone in the entertainment industry. Beats hell out of Barbra Streisand issuing tearful anti-Republican pleas from her palace, or Martin Sheen looking for places to get arrested for anti-nuclear protests, and either of them are doing a lot more than Joe Average Rock Star in any case.

Oh, and yeah, the glasses are really horrendously goofy.

I feel about the same way regarding their music, I neither love or hate it, its just your standard pop drivel, not really worth serious comment. Its Bonos glasses that get me fired up. I cant stand dumb gimmicks. I feel like smacking them off his head and shouting "GET REAL!!" in his face as loud as I can before security drags me away.

Ouch; that hurts. You have no control over this, Punkbass? And btw, nice commentary in your "banes of my existence" post; I got a good laugh out of that last night.

Oh no, none. Well, I'm considering slowly removing the files from the computer (not the from the playlist), as there is more than 200 songs on there and boss isn't really computer savvy enough to know that the without the file the song will just always get skipped by Winamp. However, if he started noticing that some U2 songs hadn't been on for a while and tried to deliberately play one, I would be by far the most obvious suspect, as I'm rather vocal on the subject...

Just remember that he didn't even go to Woodstock. He grew out of hippism before it started.
