16, in Spain was the first time I got drunk. It was in a rural town and all the 16 - 18 year olds would go to a little bar where the barman didn't car how hammered the kids got. Sometimes he'd forget to take the money off you.

I started drinking regularily in Ireland probably about a year after that. It would be very difficult to have a social life here if you didn't at least enjoy drinking establishments. Theres nothing better than a cold beer after a days work. Chillin' hard.

Since starting college I've drank more often but in less amounts, I definately have a lower tolerance now than a couple of years ago.

Not when your mind and body are still growing.
No, the effects are only bad if it's heavy drinking.

All? No. Most? Yes.

It significantly increases one's chances of being a decent human being and, further, a great mind.
Moderate drinking decreases risk of dementia, and plenty more healthy effects such as decreased risk of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis, and a general longer life span. Temperance is virtuous, as it not only allows euphoria, but increases one's health as well.

So basically when water wasn't clean enough to be drunk, and people relied on wine and beer for their daily liquid consumption, which was the case to up until the late 19th century, people were stupid jerks?

No, the chemical itself if bad while your mind and body are still literally growing.
Moderate drinking decreases risk of dementia.
The bad far outweighs the good in adolescents.

The above "history lesson" is an example of what happens when you poison yourself as a child. You might oneday actually think noone drank water until the late 1800s.

I was 13, and got wicked drunk.
I had my first beer at 16. I LOVED it. It was awesome
I had quite a bit to drink in my early 20s.
I binge drink a few times a year now, but also occassional drink just for taste.
Moderate drinking is fine, especially in midlife

alcohol actually dehydrates you:undecide:

Unless you count communion wine (which I don't- It's often not even alcohol anyways for me) then never. So it's me, Mowque, Magister Cultuum, and who else? Did you count your spit out shot Bigfoot?

No I didn't. Would you?

I wouldn't count that.

Even if it is alcohol, it's not like you'd be drinking it just to have a sip of wine.

It isn't any good anyway.

Probably not. That leaves one more by my count. Come on, show yourself!
Some are probably afraid, especially considering the response Mowque got.

NON-DRINKERS POWER!!!!!111!1

First time Sipping: Approximately 10-11.
First Time Drinking: 12
First Time Drunk: TBA

What would you consider drunk? Falling about the place? Or just lowered inhibitions?

To all the people who say they've never had a sip of alcohol.

Why? Because you can't legally? If its not that then are you not curious? Or is it because you've had bad experiences with drunk people? I'm not criticising you, just wondering why. If its the health aspect then do you cut out other unhealthy habits?
