Or maybe they will show how Brazil has its indigenous religious beliefs and then when Religion comes from another culture they merged the 2 rather than 1 religion completely takes over the other.

I have learned something. Firaxis sure loves their sports.

Didn't England also come out during a sporting event that was happening that week?

Yes but several other European and South American nations were playing that week as well. The Euro cup was in France so it would have made more sense for them to release France during that time

To be honest, this is such a widespread feature of how religion and society have interacted throughout history that I'd be a little annoyed if they made it specific to one Civ. I'd really love to see an evolution of the religion system in Civ 6 that allows you to inherit beliefs from other Civs' religions if you take over their lands. Or perhaps a high level of trade with a Civ following another religion could influence your own somehow, in a more complex way than 'you're trading with Catholics, now some of your people are Catholic'.

I'm kind of expecting to be disappointed with this, but it would really make the religion game much more dynamic and interesting.

Well Ed beach has already confirmed that at the very least, civs retain pantheon bonuses when they found a religion even if those cities are then converted to different religions. He acknowledged that it didn't make sense to wipe out the originating beliefs of the culture in lieu of a new religion.

Yeah I watched that video. I just think the vdeo this week might show us how it actually works in the game rather than introduce a whole "Religious Civ"

Maybe they'll reveal another civ tomorrow in the live stream.

They could even reveal several and gradually put up the first look videos over the next few weeks. It's not like seeing any of the usual suspects (India, Germany, Rome, Russia etc.) would surprise anyone, even if they somehow hadn't heard about the civet list.
