1982 here played Civ 1 on the old Super Nintendo, Civ 2 and Civ 2 Test of Time on an old computer, loved Civ 3 and the Rise of Rome scenario, loved 4 and especially BTS and the Fall from Heaven 2 Mod.

I quit because of Civ 5 though... in all honestly I'd rather dust off my Super Nintendo and play Civ 1 again.

A lot of old people here, I see...

Yes, aatami. Consider that for a moment when you are posting your firebrand pro-V posts ... there's 20 years of history here :smoke:

Fifties for me - and I've played Civ since Civ I.

Currently 28 (child of the 80's), saw civ 1 being played on a PC by my uncle, but started playing it on an Amiga myself a couple years later when I found a copy in my town (very small town, minimal computer games available to buy).

Been hooked ever since.

36 more votes needed to reach 4000!! Let's get there tonight.

Current vote count for the 90s stands at 666. I always knew those kids were evil. :crazyeye:

Can you guess?

'82 though when I wake up in the morings it feels more like '42! My poor young bones....

I'm the same age as you gentlemen. It seems that 1982 was a good year for gamers

stop being ageist.

it's not surprising if you really think about it.
I am a civ fan, and I think I will be a civ fan even when I am 60, if I am lucky enough to still be alive and healthy by then.
and I believe I will meet many same people around here.

I wasn't being ageist I was being realistic, I think that both computer literacy rates and membership on internet forums about videogames would be SIGNIFICANTLY lower among the 70-80 age bracket than among the 17-35 (or so) bracket. Civilization is probably a bad example as it would appeal more to older people than say, Halo, and has been around for longer.

I'm sure had these people started using computers as children or teenagers like most of us here the figures would be different but personal computers simply did not exist in the 40's and 50's. Hell most households didn't have one until the late 80's.

Born in the mid-70s, started playing Civ 1 when I was in high school. Us "old people" have been playing Civ longer than some of you whippersnappers have been alive. ;)
