Which Great Works do you want to see?

My guess is there's a western bias, but they'll also seek out some for diversity. At a minimum, any current great artists that are music could probably have a great work imported.

Yep. They said "works that are widely recognized". Likely to have a lot of western bias, but not unexpected really.

As Brazil is included in BNW,it wouldn't hurt to also add a few Great People from Brazil . Some suggestions of mine:

- Heitor Villa Lobos: Simply described as "the single most significant creative figure in 20th-century Brazilian art music" . One of his most famous work that can be represented is:

- Duke of Caxias: He led the Brazilian army during most of its conflicts into 19th century,which include the Paraguayan War and some separatist movements;

- Tarsila do Amaral: The lack of female great persons is quite evident and it wouldn't hurt to put one of the most famous artists in Brazil's history . One work of her that is a must be:

Ad said something about 70+ music themes. This should give plenty of room for all kind of music.

Regarding great literature works: was Homer's "Ilias" mentioned already? (Edit: of course it was. post #46)

A bit of more Russian art from me:

Music:
Georgiy Sviridov (nearly anything!) (Atomic Age)

Link to video.

Poetry:
Sergey Yesenin -- Hooligan's Confession (Modern Age)

Literature:
Mikhail Bulgakov -- The Master and Margarita (Atomic Age)

Austria-Hungary:

Literature:
Frantz Kafka (nearly anything) (Industrial Age)

I'm confident that it's necessery to have among Great Musicians and their Masterpieces one of the most beutifull and recognizable gems of Russian Opera Art:
"Prince Igor" by Alexander Borodin. (Industrial Era)

Most of you likely heard it even thou you don't know you did. :3

Sorry for late respond, but I just went from it. Guys, It's beautiful! And I can't help from posting.
I love this! I've been listening to various versions of this for a while now, after you posted it. I knew I had heard it before, and I just found out where: this old hip hop song, lol. I like the rap-free version better, though. ;)

I knew it, 'cause I remember it too ;). There just not many good performances of this particular aria on YouTube I even tried to find the best, but failed. The opera also contains great arias beside this (it's just the most popular).

I do hope that they get at least some music and art that is not from Europe or America. The wonders we have seen have once again been mostly (5/6) from Europe/America.

Musical:
Mozart - Magic Flute/Requiem
Bizet - Carmen
Beethoven - 5th symphony
Bach - sth.
Wagner - Nibelung Ring
Sth. modern

Literature:
Homer - Iliad
Guanzhong - Three Kingdoms
Goethe - Faust
Voltaire - The Maid of Orleans
Schiller - The Robbers
Rabelais - Gargantua and Pantagruel
Pushkin - Eugene Onegin
Dostoyevsky - Crime and Punishment
Tolstoy - War and Peace
Bulgakov - Master and Margartia
Plus, it would be very good if like seancolorado said, every civilization will get a gerat work.

Well, Emperor Taizong Receiving the Tibetan Envoy is at least in it.

Thta was an unexpected and pretty cool choice - I think even those of us with some knowledge of Asian art and literary history and what not wasn't expecting that one.

The halo theme.

Dante's Inferno

Godzilla

Dragon ball.

I'm aware only 2 of those have a chance, but still.

If they include Journey to the West, maybe they'll let western audiences know where the name Son Goku came from.

It would amuse me if they put Gangnam Style for Korea.

And though I already said it I will repeat it.

One can not simply walk past the George Gershwin's "Summer time" (from Porgy and Bess):
