Which Military Branch

Yeah, if anything, with my choices in order, I picked the deadlier jobs first. Except maybe switching Air Force with Navy...but that depends on the job.

The Army would be best but only if you can into Delta Force (which doesn't exist). Good luck. You will need it. :p

Otherwise, don't join the military, join the CIA. Just don't tell them that you are a spy and try to get yourself one of the US accents. Take your pick, we have plenty of accents here.

If you had to join one branch of the US military which would it be?

I would join the Marines, front line, because I don't want to die.

Am currently in the USMC DEP, and will ship to MCRD-San Diego (boot camp) in just under four weeks.

I'm not from USA. But if I where I would've liked to join the Navy. I where in the norwegian navy, and the experiences and feelings of being part of a crew operating a single vessel of war is quite unique. What's also unique is the ability to survive in a cramped cabin for weeks with other guys and their various lacks of social manners.

I think a smaller vessel would be ideal, for instance a hunterkiller sub.

Oh, and you learn to tie many different knots:)

Navy. Least likely to die. Also, I want to be a lawyer, and the Navy is the only branch with famous lawyers (JAG)

You sure about that? My dad is a colonel in the army JAG.

Every branch has their own lawyers.

Yeah, but the Navy's is more famous due to the TV show. :p

Oops, I missed where you said famous :wallbash::wallbash: :wallbash:

Though I am hitting that "too old" mark, and even though hubby was Army for 16 years I would tell anyone to join the air force, especially if you are going enlisted (note: NOT OFFICER). They really have things worked out right.....

In the Marines the Lt. hands the private a gun, pats him on the back and says "give 'em hell son"

In the army the Lt. stick the private in a foxhole hands him a gun and says "give 'em hell son"

In the air force the private sticks the Lt. in an airplane, taps him on the helmet and says "Give 'em hell sir"

Air Force

In the navy, the LT says push this button and bad people die hundreds of miles away ;)

I am biased of course, but the navy. Janes estimated that taking into account technology, assets, resourses, numbers, and ability etc. there is roughly a 3:1 ration of naval power, USN:rest of world combined. A little off though because the factored boomers, so 2:1, not bad. So we are the largest superioity of any military force ever assembled in the course of human history.

Cheers,
-Pat

I would be in the navy (not a pilot), it seems that it would be the job most likely to survive in.

Marines or Navy.

Marines are the Navy, not that they like to admit it.

That has to be the most blatant troll ever, for marines anyways ;)

No hard feeling,

Department of the Navy, yes. The USMC has its own Commandant, though, and the USN has its own Chief of Naval Operations.

A Marine might joke like this "Yeah we're Dept. of Navy, the Men's Dept., that is."

Can you supply me with a link (if possible) to the article?

Thanks.

It actually came from the fprward to Jane's Fighting Ships, I believe it was 2001, but post 2000 anyways. My college library hade a brilliant collection of everything Jane's all the way back to pre-WWI, but I graduated in May and lost my access. Pity. Your local library might have it, and as far as I know they make similar comparisons in Jane's Fighting Ships every year.

The Marines could be Navy....but does the navy march to Baghdad!? I didn't think so! Ha!

Marines really is the branch for me! Everybody has to be a rifleman, no matter where they go after training, even way back in intelligencr or something.
