In my opinion, the most beautiful religious buildings are Islamic.

I welcome everyone to vote in the poll, and post pictures of what they consider the most beautiful buildings (either to support their argument, or just to show how beautiful some of the world's religious buildings are).

There are many examples of the beautiful Islamic architecture that has developed over time but here are some of the structures I like most:

Mosques and Madrassas

I'm torn between Muslim and Christian. I love Gothic architecture, but I also love the Moorish palaces and decorations that are what I've seen of Islamic buildings.

Voting Christian, because the palaces aren't specifically religious buildings.

Why no pics of glass research labs? Science is my religion.

Muslim buildings are lovely, but surely you realize that the building in your first photo was actually a Christian building first, right?

I don't think I could decide between Muslim and Gothic Christian.

Christianity, with Islam coming in close second.

Though the Catholic Gothic-style cathedrals are great, my vote goes to the Shinto and Buddhist shrines and pagodas of Japan and China.

I think that of the religions which actually bother to make beautiful buildings (ie not boxy megachurches), there is no one faith whose buildings are the best. I am partial to LDS architecture almost entirely because I believe that their function has a meaning that others' doesn't.

Personally, I like the average Mosque better than the average Church, but that might be because it's exoctic to me :)

can't vote on the other religions because I haven't seen enough religious builings of them

Libraries that hold truth from science.

This is a truly hard question. The Muslims have some beautiful holy places, but the Shinto's simple shrines are nice as well. In the end I voted Christian, because I've always wanted to go to Europe and Egypt and see the early Christian monastaries that stood there.
