While We Wait: Part 2

Deja vu.

Also, while waiting, I'd play Pokemon, only I've currently stuck stuff in the Daycare and put the bike on an uphill and pressed down the key, so I need to find something else to do while waiting for that. Posting in this thread seems fine.

As it appears Nik would rather browse other NESes...methinks I shall go mow my lawn ;)

In the immortal words of Thumb Wars:

"Waiting to be killed...waiting to be killed..."

Bother that Swede and his eastiness, it seems I shall have to go to bed and view the update tomorrow. As before. And in the meantime, people will probably have slandered me.

Bah, give a man a break will you. Can't stay out of touch with everything else just because you guys are waiting, now can I... and concentrating on numbers and figures too long at a time tends to get a bit tiring... :p ;)

oh I know...I modded a pen and paper version of NES a bit ago, now that was tiring...

but it's always fun to poke the bear in the eye ;)

it keeps me entertained :p

Hey, sometimes you get bored of talking about old video games. When I went to Philmont last year I ran a NES that started off on the long bus ride down, but continued up to later. It was random-map, pretty low amounts of stats (sort of like Shadow of Rome, for those in the So Confused thread), and it was fairly easy to mod. Reminded me a lot of playing Diplomacy.

These computer NESes, though...you'll never get me to mod one of these beasts. Too much bloody time.

indeed

I had a player who was wholly obsessed with chemical warfare, and was suprised when his people revolted when he tried to pull off a draft in the capital two years into it's siege.

Needless to say, half his population fled to the countryside and other nations, while the rest were forced into the army or died of the horrible living conditions. The invading player gained almost nothing of value from his conquests

Talk about total war...

I prefer enslaving the women of great warrior tribes and using them to breed the greatest warriors known to man. But thats just me.

Ever used Punji pits as part of trench warfare? Nasty little gadgets...

Ha, I crucified all of the Holy Land that wasn't catholic.

Send your orders Lucky :p

Nasty little buggars...

Case shot filled with lye works wonders as well...and setting people's national forests on fire...stealing uniforms of dead soldiers to disguise your army as the enemies...good times

crazy lot they were. Perhaps I shall invite them here some time...

I like the discussion of tactics.

Retreating over Sleeper trenches is another nice one - barriers of slaughter and demoralization.

And another trick, this one from Fallen Dragon, is putting units with civilian clothes (or training the civilians to be militia) among the population at large and giving them long-range weapons (sling, crossbow, sniper rifle, railgun, depending on tech), so that enemy troops wandering among the people suddenly and occasionally find one of their number struck down from afar. This makes it difficult for them to hold captured territory unless they use huge, brutal garrisons, which in turn pisses off the populace some more.

*waits for Niklas*

I like hiding my troops behind my allies and letting them do the work and then taking glory in the treaty.
