While We Wait: Part 2

Ah, but then they are being conveyed into an ambush, not walking into it. It's an important technical difference; one implies willingness of movement.

They could walk against the rotation of the earth--therefore, as they are not, they are willingly going into it. And since some are walking around, this means that they are therefore walking into an ambush.

(Suggest ending this before it gets too stupid.)

How does one walk into an ambush when guarding a fixed position? :p

These funny little things called figures of speech. If you must have it PC, then they (the polar bears) would be "unconsciously setting themselves up for an ambush"

If you must have it PC,
Don't see what Political Correctness has anything to do with describing motion, sorry. :p They're not differently abled penguins or bears or some other such nonsense.

then they (the polar bears) would be "unconsciously setting themselves up for an ambush"
Again, one does not ambush a static position, one assaults, attacks, or sieges it. An ambush is itself conducted from a static position. Meaning the Yetis would have to be hiding amongst the Polar Bears, perhaps beneath or above them, and since it is from a static position to a static position, it is still technically not an ambush no matter how you slice it, it's a sneak attack. Strike three. :p

Sym takes some joy from finding things like that in language, I believe.
No, I just like to see people use clichés and turns of phrase appropriately, instead of horribly misapplying them. :p

The Yetis could be hovering in a fixed point, and the polar bears are whisking towards them unawares.

This really needs to stop.

I was done. Blame the Ghost.

And no, as the Polar Bears, and Penguins (and presumably the Yetis) are on Earth (or the last is rather close in planetary terms), we are going to count planets as stationary objects in terms of the frame of reference for the purpose of attacks on the planet's surface, because otherwise all sort of stupidity like the movement of the galaxy could be factored in because nothing is truly stationary. Don't try explaining it, it just doesn't work. :p

Why on earth would we count planets as the frame of reference? Such "logic" is easily dispersed by a Yeti ray gun.

Because the planet is where the combat is occurring and where two of the three participants are. In such an event as the Yetis are off planet and possess a raygun it is still not an "ambush" but a question of targeting and trajectory regarding a moving target, namely the planet. Otherwise every time one shoots a moving target it is an "ambush" which is stupid.

For every counterexample you can think up, I can shoot it down just as easily. :)

You see, you are using "logic". Logic, unfortunately, is not a laser weapon, and finds itself inferior. Thus, logic has fled the field in fright, and your arguments, bereft of logic, are thus nonsensical.

(I believe you are greatly misinterpreting the seriousness of my "counterexamples".)

A laser weapon remains a directed weapon, and thus an attack, not an ambush. I am therefore using both logic and the proper definition of the word "ambush" meaning your laser, for all its fury and might, does not qualify, nor does any other weapon or object, guided or unguided, projectile or energy. Please come again! :p

Obviously you did not understand the previous post, for there is no such thing as logic anymore. Logic left you! Tragic indeed.

Honestly now, I can create arguments about stupid things just as easily as you can.

Out of courtesy I will elect not to utilize the pithy comeback you just set yourself up for and conclude this line of discussion.

...which was entirely too entertaining. Good thing the badgers didn't have the chance to intervene, or you'd all be dead.

If you had, then they wouldn't have just destroyed the otters' Ceres base...

See, OK, that's another thing. When the other people already end it? You don't need to come back, say something more, and then declare it ended, because that just starts it back up again, as was demonstrated earlier this page. Don't do that. :p Stop trying to violate Internet physics, damnit.

Fine then. What is there to talk about, though? To the best of my knowledge, there aren't any major extant updates to bug people about, and I'm just about finished with some new material...

Tehe.....

And yes, ther is a point other than running my mouth ;).
