While We Wait: Part 3

Perfect :)

maybe it would be best to compile a list for comparison purposes. (as thats all such a thing will be important for). There is of course map projection and the fact that the map is hand drawn as well as issues. Plus the more coastal land you have the smaller you appear.

I will create such a list off das' latest map, but I don't think I can get it finished until Friday.

Unless GIMP is lame (hah!) it should be possible to Magic Wand an area and then use Lasso to add to add rivers and cities the selected area--Photoshop allows selection of Normal, Subtractive, and Additive (and some 4th mode I never use) selection tools.

Also, since the black coast on the map technically represents water, that's not important, though projection does leave it somewhat of a crapshoot for accuracy.

I thought that the black coast was to represent just that where the coast should be. As you'd need to make the black thinner to increase accuracy.
According to NK it's coastal water.

I do not use many of Gimp's features, so its a "learn as I need it" situation. There is a magic wand in Gimp and using "shift" you can add areas (like cities) to the selection.

This gives me a way to capture the cities to the pixel count and that is probably sufficient for comparisons.

The nice thing about The Gimp is that it does quite a lot and it is a free download.

w00tage indeed :)

Must remind myself to only ask birdy 1 question at a time... hope he doesnt mind a zillion pm's a day!

Well I'm banned for a week so D:

If I'm in your NES, NPC me!

How can you post to tell us this?

'cause I got a message saying that I was banned but I'm not!

So yay Farow will get orders tomorrow. =)

What offense?

In other news, a NESer successfully breaks out onto the world stage...well, CFC at least. Niklas just won a crazy load of awards for Civ3, according to the CivFanatics front page. We're going to ignore that he wasn't a NESer first.

:woohoo:

Hehe, thanks a lot! But yeah, as you say unlike most others here I'm a Civ player (III or IV) foremost, and NESer secondary. Oooh, blasphemy. :p
