Previously on NESer World Liberation…

1944: Tying up loose ends…

And now…

1945: Operation Russian Freedom

Spoiler :
The year begins with NESer liberation forces defending the freedom of most of Europe, all of Africa, the Middle East and much of South Asia including India. Apart from naval skirmishing in the North Atlantic, and small scale fighting in the Far East, things are pretty quiet.

NESer jet aircraft are being developed. NESer naval power is steadily growing, but will still take years to match the evil fleets of the US and UK.

It is now decided that the Soviet Union now presents the greatest threat to the cause of world liberation. It is also the only major Evil target left on our European borders. With Japanese forces kicked out of the Asian continent, the Soviets may turn their attentions to NESer liberated areas. They are continually increasing and upgrading their military might. We must strike against them first. NESer high command begins to position its assault forces along the Soviet border in Europe.

War begins once the winter snows have melted and the spring mud has dried up.

-May 6th, 1945-

There’s no doubt this will be the biggest war NESers have fought yet, and will last several years, if it can truly be won at all:

Heroic Field Marshall Symphony D. again finds himself in command of the biggest battle NESer forces have fought so far. 50 heroic NESer divisions supported by heroic NESer aircraft manage to break through evil Soviet defences in the Styrj sector. The plan is to punch a hole in the evil Soviet lines and send most of our mechanised forces into the Ukraine, where the open terrain should allow a speedy advance. From there, NESer forces will either attack the Caucasus or swing north towards Moscow.

The front line also stretches right across Southern Asia, spanning from the Caucasus to southern China. Only hours into the war, brave NESer mountain troops are ambushed by the evil Soviet armies of Central Asia and are forced to retreat.

The European front goes much better. Kiev is encircled within two weeks. It seems we have caught the evil Soviets by surprise.

There is little resistance in eastern Ukraine. But many troops are needed to guard the flanks. The advance begins to slow down, or is reversed in some places. Still, general Azale leads a successful paratrooper operation to cut off the Crimea, with help from advancing NESer armour divisions.

21 evil Soviet divisions are trapped and defeated in the Korosten pocket by NESer forces led by Heroic Field Marshall Abaddon, with help from Symphony D. and others. This will be the first of several such victories for the heroic NESers.

Kiev is liberated. Symphony D. manages to rescue a dangerous situation in forests north of Kiev. Meanwhile over on the Chinese front, The Farow becomes known as a mountaineer.

By late June, the advance speeds up again. Littleboots, Swissempire, TerrisH and Lord Iggy are already advancing towards Stalingrad.

Evil Soviet forces remain in action on the former Romanian border. After several failed attempts, a combined assault with more paratroopers finally dislodges the enemy.

das and Swissempire attack Stalingrad, which has been cut off from reinforcements.

Stalingrad is liberated without delay. Most of Ukraine has now been liberated. NESer forces attack the Caucasus from north and south. Meanwhile the NESer fleet moves into the black sea and begins destroying evil Soviet convoys.

Heroic NESer Littleboots reaches the shore of the Caspian sea on August 2nd. The Caucasus and the Crimea are cut off. Now the decision is taken to head north, for Moscow!:

Heroic General Andis-1 gains new skills.

Less than four months into the war, Lord_Iggy reaches the Aral Sea. TerrisH also approaches the Ural mountains. Still, the evil Soviet forces advance into Konigsberg in the west. It is a very uncertain time.

Andis-1 and KrimzonStriker encircle and destroy the evil Soviet tank army on the approach to Moscow. The mighty T-34’s prove susceptible enough to combined NESer firepower.

Hopes of gaining a western route to Moscow prove false. The evil Soviet forces in Belarus are just too strong for now. Field Marshall Abaddon, and Generals JosefStalinator and Luckymoose are forced to retreat.

But, Heroic NESer General Shadowbound’s Panzerwagendivisions approach Moscow from the south. Evil Soviet propagandists declare a ‘Great Patriotic War’.

Over in Vietnam, Heroic NESer General Thlayli sees to the final defeat of evil Montgomery’s army. It has taken months of difficult fighting, with very little backup available on that front.

Brave NESer troops are exhausted and disorganised on all fronts. The Russian winter is not far away, and it is feared that Moscow cannot be captured this year. But great NESer commanders inspire their troops on to seemingly impossible victories. Every effort is made to bring extra supplies to the front.

The battle of Mozhaisk may well turn out to be the most crucial in the war. Victory there allows two NESer spearheads to link up, and provides another angle to attack Moscow, and also traps large Soviet armies in a huge pocket.

Heroic NESer Lt.General das supports the attack on Moscow. NESer troops are at breaking point, but somehow manage to overcome the defences of the Soviet capitol.

Heroic NESer General Azale’s disciplined paratroopers manage to hold on to Smolensk. All attempts by the evil Soviets to break out from the pocket are eventually defeated.

October 1st: Heroic NESer General Shadowbound is the first to enter Moscow. The liberation comes just in time for the first snows of winter.

Meanwhile, the evil British and US forces have invaded India and gained another foothold in Indo-China. Our Asian forces struggle to deal with them and also repel the evil Soviets from the borders of the Liberated Areas of Tibet, India and Persia which have all been brutally violated.

Heroic NESer General BananaLee leads our strongest army of Heroic Mountain Troops in a heroic battle against evil Soviet forces in south-east China.

Far to the south of Moscow, a full 42 divisions of the evil Soviet army, starving and surrounded, are defeated and captured by just 15 NESer divisions lead by Heroic Field Marshall SwissEmpire. This may stand as the greatest NESer victory of all time. But there is no doubt that the Soviets still have hundreds more divisions to throw against us.

A bit of snow doesn’t stop the heroic NESer advance. Heroic Mountain Troops under the command of Heroic NESer General Jalapeno_Dude heroically advance beyond the Urals, with help from heroic NESer long-range tactical bombers.

NESer scientists have been inspired to develop mobile rocket artillery based on experiences in Russia. They are also designing new tanks that are way ahead of what is actually in the front line. NESer industry is focused on naval power for now.

More heroic NESer troops get involved in Central Asia to prevent further Soviet invasions there. General Azale is specially flown in to command the re-liberation of northern Persia.

Heroic NESer forces push north of Moscow, despite the worsening weather.

NESer scientists propose the study of Heroically Strategic Rockets.

1945 ends with the Ukraine, Caucasus and most of western Russia liberated from the evil Soviets. Penguin scientists also assemble three fission bombs by the end of the year. The special NESer strategic bomber wing can deliver them to a range of around 1300 km. They are not used yet. The evil Soviets remain a dangerous enemy, but it seems heroic NESer forces have already struck a heroic blow from which they will not recover.

The current plan for 1946 is the liberation of Leningrad, the Karelian and Uralsk regions, and to push as far east as Lake Baikal if possible. 1947 should begin with Africa and most of Eurasia liberated from evil control, and with a powerful fleet, army and airforce under the command of heroic NESer commanders. Total world liberation is within reach. Peace and freedom for all.

Woohoo, Paris then London! Yay Josef! But head of government too? Being a useless figurehead (EDIT: Wait, Daft, YOU are the figurehead? Does that mean all the war and NESland's exploits can be attributed to me? >.>) has its perks. What are my traits both as general and minister?

I imagine the day-to-day task of keeping order in the NESer world government is your thing. And ordering other ministers about. The field marshalls (The Farow, Warman, SwissEmpire and Symphony D stand out) pretty much do their own thing and run the war global liberation themselves. I tour the liberated zones looking for good photo and PR oppertunities.

As a general I think you have logistics wizard, offensive doctrine, and something else. I'll have to get back to you about the traits. Im playing on my new fast computer which doesnt have internet!

Thing is, I have ranking seniority, and I say the Soviets will stab us in the back while we do something stupid like building a "navy." Also, Pivot of History.

We just invade Russia from India and Vietnam via Afghanistan and China. They'll never suspect it (because it's totally mad).

Well carriers take so long to build, and the game ends in 1953, so im worried there wont be time to beat the US fleet later. I dont know enough game exploits to simply sneak a huge fleet of invasion transports across the Atlantic or Pacific :)

Central Asia has those horrible provinces that take like two months to step across. So I thought attacking in the west would be more fun, comparisons to barbarossa and all that.

You made me research the The Geographical Pivot of History, thanks :D

Luckymoose said:
Whatever happened to my general.

He has a long and distinguised career doing vital work for the cause of world freedom, he just sadly seems to miss out on the really glorious battles, and gets an unfair share of being in bad situations. Im sorry, I didnt plan that, its just the way it worked out :)

JosefStalinator said:
Beat that bastard Stalin! Oh wait..

Yes how to resolve this intriguing dilemma! who is the clone/alternate self of whom?

well, if we kill both of them...

Wow, three mentions! Too bad I got the short straw and have to trek across Central Asia :p

OK, next time im going to research the histories of each commander. HoI2 keeps a log for them which records which battles they were in, whether they commanded or just took part, what date they occured, and whether they won or lost.

@North King, I think you are in Russia somewhere. Though its possible some people got accidentally deleted when I occasionally added new commanders, due to ID code conflicts :(

@sp1023, I named an admiral in your honour. Disenfrancised has the main fleet, but your admiral has done lots of succesful convoy raiding with destroyers operating near south africa and gibraltar.

Regarding weather control, I am curious as to the tolerances of organic beings to Silver Iodide. It doesnt sound healthy! Also, I remember HAARP being linked to all kinds of conspiracy theories in the late 90's during the UFO/X-Files craze and all that. Scary stuff...

The Farow said:
Daft is there room for the Farow to help liberate the oppressed masses?

Yes, in fact you are already in Russia somewhere I think. There's pretty much infinite room for new commanders, except when I forget which ID's I've already used, then I overwrite one by accident :o

I'm starting to wonder if the Chinese have solutions to problems that don't involve masses of peasants shooting off rockets.

In other news, I just read Old Man's War in one day, (well, more like 8 hours,) which was awesome. A lot of great ideas for spacefaring NESes that could be incorporated.
