Yeah, Lucid dreaming. I used that to stop getting nightmares when I was young (most involved getting eaten by dinosaurs or being sucked into my basement furnace).The best kind of dreams are those in which you can control your dreams - it's your own mind, so you can do anything you want

Talking about nightmares, I want to talk to you guys about something.
There is... Something abnormal about most nightmares. In Iggy's example, I would consider the 'getting eaten by dinosaurs' part somehow normal, while 'sucked into a furnace' much more scary, and resembles the kind of dreams I can get sometimes. I just want to know if other people really do have that 'innocent nightmares' as they sound like.
I wake up, brush my teeth, and do all the other stuff you normally do in the morning. Then, I jump onto my bike and races along the road and up a hill until I get to my grandmother's place. Of some reason, my grandfather isn't dead in this dream, and they are fighting over the house - she has terribly screams, loud and shrieky, while she yells at him. I have not, however, found out that this is a nightmare, yet.
Nevertheless, he roars back at her, and she walks past him into the kitchen. He stands before a mirror with a shelf below and a vase on it. He picks up the vase and says: "I like this house. You can sell it," he looks at the bottom of the vase, "and earn a lot of money on it."
With that he puts down the vase, and the whole view is focused at the mirror. I'm not in the dream anymore, only the mirror and the small, black vase is present. With that, a chubby black woman appears in the mirror. She has short black hair and a blue long dress, you cannot see her hands or legs. Now I feel that there's seriously something wrong. She looks just plain bored, nothing else, as she changes. Her skin grows fur, and her eyes narrows, while the sounds of a television without connection become more clear - she transforms into a macabre cat beast, and now I am finding out why I'm seeing this. I remember that I'm dreaming. I try to struggle with myself, relieving me from the nightmare. I just can't seem to wake up, and the cat grows on and on, but I just don't wake up.
I then open my eyes. I am again inside my bedroom, breathing harshly. Relieved, I try to focus ahead of me. Everything is there - the crappy old computer I've always had, the mess lying on the carpet -
the door is open.
Something's wrong, the bedroom door is open. I suddently realize that the whole thing is a blur. I cannot focus. Then, this hand appears from my door and it grabs the doorknob. It's pale. A man walks in, and the next series of things happen over one and a half second. His appearance scares me terribly. He is skinny as an anorectic, has a white, dirty beard and formal clothes, and then he jumps at me, screaming and strangling me. On my chest he is, and I am terrified when I finally manage to wake up.

I was playing some earlier, the general Lord_Iggy (has the 'commando' trait, so is currently in charge of some marine divisions) is currently somewhere south of Anchorage, helping some mountain troops who are moving in on what could be the last US victory point we need to capture. I think your general also captured Vancouver and Vancouver Island earlier on. He did lead an attack in the direction of Yukon, but that was just to get some Canadian divisions retreating out of there. I'll get the general moving again, but I think the war will be over before anyone can actually get to those northern Canadian territories
Other news: das had to stay in Chicago for a while until reinforcements arrived, but Symphony D is rolling across southern Canada, racing against KrimzonStiker and Abaddon for the last VP locations in the middle. One more is left in the Caroline Islands in the pacific, I have a nuclear rocket aimed at that, with NuclearKid ready to invade afterwards.

I have another long-term game in MTW2, playing as Venice, that I started in late February. I haven't played for a few weeks, but Im determined to finish that one too. Oh and a EU2 game as bohemia that I played in small amounts over about 6 months. Otherwise, the only other game that held my interest is Halo (the PC version of the original). I'm currently playing through that for the second time.
I cant imagine playing a whole RTW campaign in one go! Did you skip all the micro-management etc? I usually find everything messing up and people dying horribly unless I take it slow...

A couple of years ago, I really got into LD's, spent several hours one night reading up on it, went to sleep, and had several strange semi-lucid dreams. Since then I've had less and less dreams I could 'control', and I'm not really aware of what's going on anyway. I usually end up trying to fly high into the sky, before waking up or drifting into a normal dream.
For me, its all blurry, just like imagination, and not very exciting really. But I know that others claim to have dreams just as vivid as real life, I would really like to try that

Being honest, I can see why I was paired up with Thlayli. I'm more curious to find out why D'Artagnan was paired with us. I can't remember ever speaking to the person, and as far as I know neither has Thy. In addition, considering that Symphony asked for comparisions based upon skill level, I'm curious to what Dachs was trying to exactly say by pairing us up, then suddenly throwing a random third person in.

Regarding dreams I've had one where I shot this really hot redhead girl that I think I love with a .50 AE Desert Eagle. Then I went mad as I realized what I did. Totally surreal.

We have enough people in different timezones to keep it active at all times, which could do a lot to alleviate the boredom I'm sure a lot of NESers feel while the boards are slow. Anyone who can't connect should feel free to PM someone who's already connected for help... At the moment, I guess that's me, but I'm sure that there are a few NESers that know much more about this IRC business than I do.
