Are they good-looking or nice? If they're ugly and/or mean, don't go!
But regardless, if you're friends, go! You will rise in the ranks of the ladies. You never have to tell any of your friends that you were bored enough to hang out around a convention devoted to Japanese animation.
Plus, okay, take pictures. There are two kinds of pictures you might want to take: pictures of people who dress up well, because those are cool, and maybe pictures of people who dress poorly, so you can laugh about it.
Of course, I encountered many, many of the latter while I'm there. My (then not) ex took pictures of pretty people. I think there were a total, of, what, like, ten? Then again, this was Anime Expo. Who knows, maybe everybody's a Southern belle.

One of the girls is my friends girlfriend but her friends look decent. They sent me a picture from today's part of the expo of a guy dressed as Snake.

At Anime Expo this year, there were a few TF2 characters.
It's not all Japan-related. I got the autographs of two of the Red vs. Blue guys and a DVD! Good stuff.
So yeah.
But then you will see horrible things like fat Suigintou (;_;, my favorite character from Rozen Maiden) and crossdressers.
Though, you see some cool stuff. Like Wiimote guy and Samurai Ninja.

Tokyo Godfathers was a pretty awesome movie though. Watched it quite a while back but since we were on the topic of anime.
Umm, what else. Taegukgi is awesome. Infernal Affairs is awesomer. Hot Fuzz is a mean comedy movie.
