I seriously didn't realize that the numbering system for the Karls and Eriks was fake until a very short time ago. Then again, it does seem rather improbable for there to have been sixteen Karls and fourteen Eriks in a millennium or so. The Romaioi only had eleven Konstantinoses in the same span of time.
