Yeah, a revised map (but not as big in actual size as Symphony's) would be nice.

Re: the Race: I believe someone has started a supposedly ordinary WWII NES once, then immediately alienated (no pun intended) most of his player base by having the lizards attack as per book. I think it was Grandmaster?

Re: map: yes, yes, yes. There are too many things wrong with it to list. As I already said, you need to simply put some borders from a historical map on it to see how hideously and inevitably wrong it will all be. The Russo-Qing border is yet another example of this being bad, and I'm not a huge fan of the Rhine valley 1914 borders either. Also: Iranian Azerbaijan.

EDIT:

Or the USA, for that matter, which was a little surprising.

Wouldn't say so. Almost every large landmass is full of wrongness, so I'd say it's a systematic flaw that overrides all knowledge and (if that's what you're implying :p ) bias.

I think this was Sheep.

And Africa... Yeah, that's the part I'm currently converting.

I'd just figure American mapmakers would spend more time on America. Goodness knows the first thing I fixed on the world map was Michigan. :p

Communisto started his, went for two updates (maybe one?) and it died, then he came back multiple years later and tried a Race reboot that failed instantly along those lines. Sheep mighta started one of those like you said but I think that the whole Race thing was explicit at the beginning. I forget the exact circumstances.

Speaking of maps, I was just 6 hours into editing the HoI2 map into something fun-NES-able by removing all those iffy province lines (while retaining those that corresponded to rivers), and was done with Western Europe, then suddenly as I was saving my work my USB got loose and BAM.

Frig-a-doodle-doo, as they say.

What about the NESer Civilization IV mod?

Well, my usual mercurial disposition gave Crezth the benefit of the doubt (that he'll be doing most of the modding) quickly after I was intent on taking on the project with much vigor, so right now my only investment in the thing is pimping up Churchill's suit; that will probably change soon, though, especially given the zero real output of the mod thread!

Well, we should merely make a proper mod thread with an OP not being depressed all the time, having the energy to invest his time into stuff. So, yea, someone host a proper thread please. :p

What is that I hear? Excuses with a dash of angst? Also, who hosts what is inconsequential as long as there is no PROGRESS to go around.

The more I think make conjectures on the basis of assumptions based on leaps of logic from BirdNES about it, the more I suspect [person] of being [some other person]!

I wonder how many people will read this single post. BUT. As a NESer, I find the fixed size PM box very restrictive when editing and writing out orders.

Till has scripted greasemonkey to do away with this, and i must say it is fantastic.

Check the link for more info. Its 1-click to install! :D

I remember the last civ mod for NESing. Was NES series for civs and the city names were the players who were in each of them. Interesting to see how a new one shapes out. Religion would be a fun toy. Make "Board/Storyist/Simulationist" be the religions. Then we can have a holy war or two as it should be.

Well there is always emails, I wondered why we never used that.
