Funny. Changed your mind since last turn?
Not at all. I've never thought that eliminating LoSP was the best path to a powerful Egypt. I don't mind expanding a bit at your expense though. ;) I had no intention of even getting into a war until you declared against Sparta while paying Byzantium to be so troublesome. It was all so "unneighborly". And I even offered peace after my initial success if you recall. I cannot speak to the motives of the others though.

Well you certainly have a different view of what constitutes "trying to destroy a nation." I would file a traitorous backstabbing invasion under that.

Tell me NK, have you checked the alliances section of the front page recently? :mischief:

Egypt and Sparta had a secret alliance for many years before war broke out. So it wasn't entirely backstabbing (maybe)...

Get over it and stop whining.

Oh, poor mod; you know so little of what goes on behind the scenes. :p
That's what you think....

Frankly I'm beginning to agree with silver. NK, I understand your feelings but why say the very same thing for several days? Its beginning to get rather irritating.

In the other news, me joining JalNES shall have to postponed (and its all your fault jalapeno! You should've updated faster! :p ), but is likely to happen sooner or later.

It isn't whining; it's telling BJ to get over himself and stop trying to portray himself as the honorable one.

Not everyone has so little schoolwork they can update during the week....

So you make it so that we have to send orders on a school week, too? :p
Yes, because you can work on orders a little at a time. In my experience, it's impossible to do an update in 10-minute chunks--you have to spend at least an hour at a time on it.

You can't do a proper orderset ten minutes at a time, in my experience.

But I do agree with you about updating. My problem in modding was never that I didn't have enough time, it was that I didn't have enough time in one unbroken stretch.

It was all very simple. Sparta and Egypt had a secret defensive pact. You declared war on Sparta, Egypt was obligated to support her and Egypt did the best that she could do to assure success in that endeavor. Part of that process was to mislead LoSP into believing that peace was the order of the day. It apparently worked quite well.

After Egypt's success, the peace offer was genuine. Why shouldn't Egypt try to quit while ahead? After you knock someone down and take their wallet, there is no need to kick them too. It is not a question of trying to appear more "honorable", it is just practical. Egypt gained, LoSP was diminished at almost no cost to me. Why risk it with more fighting? I had fullfilled my obligation to Sparta and would have been quite happy to let you and Sumeria and Sparta pound away at each other for a few more turns and spent my EP on something other than more troops.

Actually I mistrusted you anyway, but I couldn't afford to keep troops away from the main fields of fighting. Add in that I wrote those orders in a sleep-deprived haze right after hours of homework, and the seeds of a defeat were born.

EDIT: And Sparta declared war on me.

Sparta declared war on you for supporting its enemies. It's debatable who was the agressor (as you should know from supporting France in NES2VI)...

I was certainly not the aggressor. All I had done was allowed Byzantium to match Sparta in sheer numbers of ships (since Sparta was ridiculously overpowered in the first place). Add in the fact that Sparta's fleet tactics were rather dismal in the war, and Byzantium won. It's hardly my fault; I didn't attack Sparta. I simply stopped a neighbor from being destroyed.

Then, like Hamlet, it was a tragedy of of great weight in the affairs of men that could not be helped. Alas poor Ophelia...

Is that really true? I recall some wild post from you denouncing Sparta and declaring war for some trumped up matter with regards to Byzantium.

Can I claim the same? ;)

Stop making excuses and accept the fact you lost.
