White flight

dl?

Lets be honest, this thread was never really about white flight.
I agree. If it was set up as a discussion instead of a hissy fit I think it had a chance.

On the flip side, I'm living in a town with a large hispanic population and find it to be very nice. :)

I do not doubt that that is the case. I know a lot of good hispanic families. I have hispanics in my family. They took part in "hispanic flight".

I thought FTW meant **** The World - ah well, it'll still mean that to me!

I dunno. Inquisitor was more articulate. At the very least, the guy who made him up would be a genius.

I tracked him to another forum where he spewed similar garbage. Don't think he was a made-up persona.

I know, ultimately it's the Chick effect. :p Though what I meant was that if Inq was faked, said person would be a genius because he was actually believable, as opposed to, say, RS or garric.

Despite rmsharpe's ridiculous assertion Minneapolis is doing very well,
I was talking about the inner city parts, not the new developments; I won't deny that the housing market downtown is improving in some places. Minneapolis has certainly made incredible progress despite their incompetent and corrupt city government.

The crime levels, however, are just as bad as they've ever been. Violent crime is up over the past year, and Comrade Rybak doesn't seem all to concerned about it. Comrade Rybak is more interested in "diversity" (Peebles, Bleskachek) than actually improving anything in the city.

10,000% yes.

I felt safer walking around Manhattan at night than I do walking around downtown Minneapolis.

Kind of funny, cause now all of the 1980s movies that take place in NYC seem so unrealistic nowadays.

You know what's worse than white flight? Gay flight.

But no, I'm a product of Brain Drain. My granddad moved to the States from the UK because it paid better.

Eh, I've seen plenty of beggers, though not as many as I've seen in SF. But the singular form of data is not anecdote. (Thank you, aneesh, for that saying)
